Summary:

We are currently seeking a Regional Buyer to join our Procurement team to support our growing business within the aggregates and raw materials industry. Reporting into the Director of Procurement, this position will be responsible for Managing complex purchase requests, quotes, bids and proposals.

Responsibilities:

  • Compile, analyze and evaluate statistical procurement data

  • Establish price objectives in accordance with budgeted/proposed item cost

  • Complete periodic spend analysis and identify savings opportunities

  • Capitalize on cost savings opportunities and document efforts

  • Participate in strategic sourcing initiatives and monitor field compliance

  • Participate in and lead cross-functional teams while working closely with suppliers to achieve superior levels of performance in quality, cost management, and service

  • Collaborate with key regional suppliers

  • Generate purchase orders from requisitions using JDE

  • Performs all activities in accordance with the Company's Mission, Vision, and Values, and in compliance with the Company's policies, procedures, and Code of Ethical Business Conduct

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain, or equivalent field experience

  • 3-5 years of progressively responsible procurement or management experience

  • Mining, manufacturing, construction or engineering experience (Operations experience a plus)

  • Demonstrated ability to handle and prioritize multiple projects

  • Experience in sourcing and contracting for equipment and services

  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

  • Possess strong presentation skills

  • Proof of cost reduction and productivity improvements.

  • Understand and execute contractual agreements

  • Ability to travel 50% of the time

  • Proven track record of exceeding expectations on a regular basis

Working with both external suppliers and internal customers, the successful candidate will perform strategic procurement activities, search for better deals and find more profitable suppliers. Primary Responsibilities: * Negotiate favorable pricing, terms, FOB location, warranty limits, and price protection. * Gather and analyze market data on availability, price, and prime opportunities for negotiations. * Provide the effective purchasing and delivery of all items within the commodities assigned. * Manage contracts and date management including contract termination notice timing. * Understand the contract process and makes decisions in a timely manner. * Continuously strive to reduce total cost of procured goods and services. * Initiate and lead actions to resolve minor and major plant emergency purchases. * Seek input from management and Legal on contract requirements and purchasing issues. * Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree required. Chemistry, Supply Chain, or military equivalent preferred. * 3+ years of purchasing experience preferred. * Experience working in steel or heavy manufacturing environment preferred. * Strong research skills and knowledge of market trends. * Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects at the same time. * Ability to read and interpret blueprints. * Strong computer skills, Advanced Excel skills strongly preferred. * Strong communication skills, demonstrated ability to negotiate effectively. * Occasional travel required We are an Equal Opportunity Employer.
