Southwestern University, located in Georgetown is accepting applications for a Regional Assistant/Associate Director of Admission-Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. This member of the admission team works both directly and indirectly in the recruitment of prospective students for Southwestern University and helps families navigate the college admission process-from college research process through the financial and enrollment steps. Additionally, this position may be assigned a supplemental responsibility to support the overall admission staff. This is an in-person, full-time, twelve-month, exempt position with full benefits who reports to the Assistant Vice President of Admission.

Primary Duties:

  • Plan, coordinate, implement and evaluate all phases of travel within the assigned geography area for visiting high schools and attending college fair programs (both fall and spring), college boot camps and representing Southwestern University to students, parents, counselors, teachers,CBO and IECs and administrators. Spring travel may be heavier than in house counselors.

  • Read and evaluate applications and provide input for student candidate selection process.

  • Plan, coordinate, implement, and engage in receptions or other promotional programs within an assigned geographic area for prospective students, parents and high school personnel to present the mission of Southwestern University.

  • Conduct scholarship and admission interviews with prospective students.

  • Nurture, build, and sustain ongoing professional relationships with prospective students and those who influence them to achieve assigned enrollment management objectives.

  • Using data driven philosophy, establish a clear regional recruitment and yield strategy and goal.

  • Complete appropriate department paperwork, including travel expense reports, interview reports, etc.

  • Track application performance through data research.

  • Monitor travel budget.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Engagement in regional professional group is expected.

  • Trips to campus to engage with training and on-campus events (between 6-8 times per year).

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably from a liberal arts & sciences institution.

  • 3 years of professional work experience is required for the Assistant Director level and 5 years of professional work experience is required for the Associate Director level. It is preferred to see the professional experience in an undergraduate admission office, preferably at another national liberal arts college.

  • Availability and willingness to consistently attend work and maintain a regular work schedule. Also, enthusiastically and frequently work evenings, partial weekends, and campus visit programs, as needed for success. These busy times may occur several months per year.

  • Desire to build a pallet of experience by taking on supplemental responsibilities as needed within the office.

  • Demonstrated ability to self-manage time, activity, and spending, staying focused on accomplishment of objectives.

  • Self-starter, who is calm under pressure, is flexible, meets deadlines, works without direct supervision, is able to multitask, problem-solve, and relate to a variety of personalities under diverse circumstances.

  • Outstanding presentation, communication, and interaction skills (verbal and written).

  • Excellent organization, decision-making, reading, analyzation and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent computer skills, including the use of software such as Microsoft Suite, Adobe products.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills, including a strong work ethic.

  • Willingness to adhere to the University's core values.

  • Have knowledge, understanding, and acceptance of cultural differences and the diversity within the campus and community.

  • Demonstrated professional manner with all internal and external University constituencies.

  • Proven ability to perform well in both confidential and stressful situations.

  • Ability to maintain confidential information and files.

  • Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team.

  • Ability to work in a typical office environment, with or without accommodations.

Preferred Position Requirements:

  • Previous experience working as a regional admission officer.

  • A strong preference for English and Spanish/bilingual fluency (verbal and written).

  • Experience with Slate, CRM.

  • Extensive knowledge of the University and the programs offered.

  • Experience in developing Slate or utilizing surveys or other assessment measures.

  • Experience working with students from culturally diverse backgrounds.

  • Work/leadership experience in higher education.

  • Event planning in a professional capacity.
