Regional Assistant

Purpose

Be a support to families and staff that visit the Regional Student Center and support the regional Principal.

Essential Job Functions

Create and maintain a friendly and calm environment in their region.

Coordinate with staff on office supply needs and current inventory and complete a once a year inventory of office supplies. Additionally, work with the regional Principal and the google doc to order supplies as needed.

Work with the landlord on keys, facility issues, janitorial issues, ect as needed.

Keep up the regions Google Calendar and ensure space is shared by staff.

Be aware of their Principal's calendar to support staff/students trying to reach them.

During meetings, interviews, parent nights, and other events, coordinate with BCS staff to ensure availability and service during meetings. For meetings work with the Principal and BCS staff to ensure there is enough supplies food and drink as appropriate. Assist staff with setting up and tearing down furniture set up depending on meeting needs.

Assist BCS staff with the cleaning and maintenance of the space before/after events. The regional assistant is not responsible for cleaning up after employees, but shall encourage them to clean up after themselves.

Answer calls and help families through basic troubleshooting tips when they are asking for technology support.

Make runs to the post office, ship materials, and receive materials. Additionally, regularly check the mail and distribute to mailboxes.

Coordinate with the Principal on the embroidery of the BCS logo on staff gear.

Grow in professional practice

Demonstrate the ability to design and monitor a continuing professional growth plan.

On a daily basis come prepared to work and support Baker Charter Schools' mission.

Additional Duties

Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Administrator and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

Use standard office equipment, such as personal computers and copiers.

Travel Requirements

Travels to the regional student center to work in the lab daily, monthly staff meetings, twice annually to all staff meetings somewhere in Oregon, for a 3 day period one time for new staff training, and local student center for professional meetings as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide, and perform arithmetic operations as needed to assist students.

Ability to understand, apply and use personal computers and software applications (e.g., Word, Excel).

Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals.

Ability to maintain confidentiality of information regarding students, employees and others.

Ability to establish a supportive and compassionate relationship with students with special needs.

Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff and others contacted in the course of work.

Ability to report work orally or in writing to supervisor as required.

Effective writing and verbal communication skills.

Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards

The regional assistant works from their home office and student center. The work environment is often controlled and quiet, but will also frequently include moderate to loud noise.

The work environment may include exposure to unpleasant interior temperatures, dirt, communicable diseases, and distraught or difficult individuals. The work requires regular focus on a computer screen and precise control of fingers and hand movements. Bending, stooping, kneeling and lifting up to 20 pounds and may also be required on occasion.

Qualifications Profile

1.Must possess a valid driver's license, running vehicle, and appropriate automobile insurance

2.Must possess job-related experience providing the applicant with the desired skills, knowledge and ability to perform the job.

3.Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills.

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Successful completion of college leve coursework preferred

Experience
Prior experience working with children in an educational setting preferred
