ABB Inc., is looking for a Regional Applications Engineer / Senior Applications Engineer to join our Drives and Controls Business Unit, a part of our Robotics and Motion Division and support our sales of Low Voltage Drives and motor applications in either Richmond VA, Chattanooga TN, New Orleans LA, or Mobile AL.

Tasks:

The Regional Applications Engineer will provide technical expertise to the sales team, the sales channel, technical support, product engineering, R&D and the end customers. The areas of technical expertise include but are not limited to; ABB LV drive product knowledge, LV drive product application and general LV drive and motor application issues.

Typical duties/responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Apply Technical Knowledge Design and recommend tailored solutions based on a deep knowledge of the portfolio and capabilities to meet customers' unique needs. Contribute to specification by negotiating deviations and agreeing on win-win solutions. Identify and communicate applicability of (new/emerging) functional solutions to address current business issues. Advise others on the delivery of high-quality solutions by applying broad and deep professional expertise.

  • Sales Drive Continuously aim to meet targets even in difficult circumstances. Identify and systematically follow-up on business opportunities. Focus energy on key tasks. Take extra measure to ensure customer satisfaction.

  • Customer Relations Continuously strengthen existing customer relationships. Take the initiative to get to know new customers. Follow-up on customer complaints in a timely manner according to a defined process. Identify and meet customer needs and ask for feedback.

  • Networking Increase own network within the organization. Build business relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Sales Process and Related Tools Use of CRM to track, metric, report, communicate, and forecast field activities. Support others on the job by sharing tool and process best practices. Be able to describe the general characteristics of the sales processes and apply the tools efficiently.

  • Market and Business Intelligence Participate in sales meetings to become familiar with market and business information. Identify opportunities for improvements based on structure customer feedback. Actively search for market information related to competitive product offerings and technology.

  • Sales Techniques Know and confidently use basic sales techniques (e.g. communication, active listening, presentation). Take different viewpoints into consideration when creating a solution. Self-reflect on sales approach and adjust to customers as needed.

  • Service Pro-actively discuss the Service portfolio with customers on a "common" level to identify the actual need and to create awareness for future activities.

Requirements:

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering AND 5+ years of experience in industrial automation

  • Master's degree in engineering AND 3+ years of experience in industrial automation

  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US

Alternatively, this position may be filled at the Senior level for the successful candidate meeting these basic qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering AND 8+ years of experience in industrial automation

  • Master's degree in engineering AND 6+ years of experience in industrial automation

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering

  • 8+ years of experience in drives or motor applications engineering

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common technical journals, and legal documents

  • Previous experience responding to common inquiries or complaints from customers, vendors, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community

  • Experience effectively presenting information to top management, customers, vendors, and other employees of the organization.

  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of geometry, algebra and trigonometry

  • Ability and willingness to travel greater than 50% primarily within the local territory

VIEW JOBS 11/16/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-02-14T00:00 PURPOSE The Senior SCADA/DMS Engineer is responsible for the design, testing, and maintenance of EPB's SCADA/DMS system and its supporting systems and technology. This includes working with vendor support staff, programming and testing of equipment to ensure proper operation, development, and support of control systems. A Senior Engineer is a leader in the workgroup due to his/her knowledge, experience and work ethic and is frequently required to train other engineers or technicians. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (may include any of the following): * Provide technical support for the SCADA/DMS System including applications, database systems, communications systems, graphical user interface displays, fiber optic network, maintain all SCADA/DMS servers and databases, and interfaces to other systems. * Monitor SCADA system status and reports, troubleshoot and work with system operators to help determine system problems, as well as distribute work to other personnel in the area as needed. * Provide technical support for support systems such as the microprocessor-based control and protection equipment, fiber optic communications and specialized computer systems. * Develop, configure and maintain automation software schemes and related equipment. * Perform data analysis to understand and improve electric system operations; utilize current technology to perform data retrieval/transformation, database development and report writing, develop methods to identify trends, patterns, and relationships in electric system data. * Train other engineers and employees on the use of technology, best practices, methods and test procedures used in electric system data. * Train other engineers and employees on the use of technology, best practices, methods and test procedures used in the electric industry. * Any other duties as assigned by manager.
