Who we are

The Office of Undergraduate Recruitment handles freshman, transfer, international, and other prospective students who wish to apply to Texas A&M University. The office is also responsible for recruiting and enrollment an academically prepared student body geographically and economically varied. In addition, Undergraduate Recruitment also offers several opportunities for prospective students and their families to visit campus throughout the year to learn about the rich traditions and culture of Texas A&M University.

Undergraduate Recruitment seeks to hire a Regional Advisor II. The Regional Advisor II is responsible for the development and implementation of admission, financial aid, and early outreach strategies that enhance the identification, recruitment and enrollment of prospective students interested in attending Texas A&M. Serves as mentor and trainer for other staff and serve as lead on select recruitment programs. A successful candidate possesses strong interpersonal and communication skills as well as a keen attention to detail. This person works well on a team to support the mission of Texas A&M Undergraduate Recruitment. What you need to know

Salary: $36,512.00 - $46,924.80 (Compensation will be commensurate to selected hire's experience)

Position Details: Extensive travel required. Evenings and weekend work required.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Two years of related experience in student services, admissions, recruitment, or financial aid.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, oral and written communication skills with individuals or in a group setting.

  • Must possess strong organization skills.

  • Working knowledge of standard office equipment and computers.

  • Ability to work well with students and parents.

  • Ability use word processing and spreadsheet programs.

  • Knowledge of financial aid programs and federal regulations relating to student financial aid.

  • Ability to work as a team member in a dynamic organization, possessing a positive attitude and is customer service oriented.

  • Must be literate in the English language and able to comprehend and follow both written and verbal instructions.

  • Ability to perform accurately in a detail-oriented environment with good interpersonal communication skills.

  • Ability to organize and make decisions.

  • Ability to work well under pressure in a team environment.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree from Texas A&M University at Galveston.

  • Experience in Admissions recruiting/advising and Financial Aid.

  • Working experience with youth and varied populations in admissions, recruitment, or financial aid.

  • Experience giving presentations to large groups.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • State of Texas class "C" vehicle operator's license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products.

  • Ability to speak Spanish and English (Bilingual).

  • Ability to develop and make presentations.

  • Ability to design, develop, conduct, and assess effective programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Recruitment
  • Identifies, recruits, and contributes to increasing the population of admitted and enrolled students in designated high schools and regions. Works directly with prospective students and parents through the entire admissions, scholarship, and financial aid application process; follow-up on specific questions; troubleshoot any issues. Coordinates with high school counselors to facilitate the admissions, financial aid, and scholarship application process. Implements recruitment activities such as campus trips, presentations, resource tables, application workshops and designated area projects. Organizes, implements, and reports on programs/projects including marketing, accommodations, itineraries, meals, speakers and records.
  • Matriculation
  • Uses professional judgment in advising and assisting students in solving their financial problems through scholarships, loans, grants, employment and financial counseling. Uses professional judgment in assisting to provide budgeting, money management, loans and indebtedness counseling to students on an individual and group basis and makes presentations to groups regarding financial aid and scholarship programs. Works with the Financial Aid Office with regard to awarding and adjusting financial aid awards as necessary to conform to federal, state and institutional policies and regulations.
  • Customer Service
  • Interacts with high school faculty, administration and staff to provide and exchange information and to enhance the counseling and advisement of students considering/planning on attending Texas A&M. Develops, implements, and manages recruitment and financial aid early awareness programs for Service assigned areas. Conducts presentations and works at resource tables as requested. Establishes community contacts in select areas in market or region. Develops working relationships with University agencies, departments, counselors and advisors to enhance customer service and satisfaction. Assists with developing and revising admissions and financial aid consumer information materials, publications and brochures for currently enrolled students, prospective students and their parents, as well as for college, department and university use. Conducts presentations at local, state and regional conferences.
  • Job Knowledge
  • Develops a working knowledge of University information, opportunities and policies. Maintains knowledge of current federal, state and institutional policies, procedures and regulations pertaining to financial aid and admissions. Attends local and state workshops and conferences. May serve on university, divisional and departmental committees.
  • Leadership
  • Serves as a mentor and assists in the training of subordinate advisors regarding admissions and financial aid rules, regulations, policies, and procedures, as well as how to develop and maintain relationships in high schools and community agencies. Assumes leadership roles in local, state and regional professional associations and committees. Coordinates major office programs.
