Job Summary/Basic Function

About This Role:

Lamar University Regional Admissions Counselors are responsible for recruiting prospective students by promoting Lamar University programs to undergraduate students, pre-admission advisement and matriculation to ensure enrollment goals are met. This position

is a remote position and will live in the Southeast Texas area and reports directly to one of the Assistant Directors of Admissions

What You'll Do

  • Position Responsibilities
  • Recruit prospective transfer students by providing accurate and timely pre-admission

advisement to prospective students, parents, families, and other members of the public

  • Facilitating the pre-admission and conversion process through various sales methods and

recruitment strategies to include, but not limited to automated and personalized

communication, community college visits, pre-screened cold calling, presentations, etc.

  • Attending events and making presentations to communicate with prospective transfer

students and their parents to promote Lamar University and its programs

  • Assisting all prospective students, and their families while on call with the ApplyTexas

Application, Federal Application for Financial Student Aid (FAFSA) and other pre-college

preparation requirements and questions

  • Train and mentor new Admissions Counselors and Regional Admissions Counselors

throughout their first recruitment cycle through one-on-ones, team meetings, chat

availability, shadowing opportunities, etc.

  • Facilitate recruitment planning and strategies based on yield data for assigned territories

and recruitment specialty areas

  • Working directly with area institutions of higher education, technical centers, businesses,

and other constituencies in activities designed to prepare students for college and

enrollment at LU

  • Attend, collaborate, and assist in mandatory recruitment events both on-campus and off

campus, including but not limited to Cardinal View, Admitted Student Day, Cardinal

Sendoffs, Internal Staff Conferences, etc.

  • Demonstrated time management, ability to multitask, and meet deadlines.

  • Tact and judgement in obtaining or giving information of a confidential nature.

  • Creative problem-solving and decision making.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift, load, and transport recruitment materials, displays, and other equipment up to 35 pounds

Job Conditions:

  • Extensive travel within Lamar University's recruitment zones

  • Regular travel to Lamar University

  • Evening and weekend hours are required

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree OR · Combination of college credit and applicable higher education experience may be substituted while actively pursuing bachelor's degree

  • Valid driver's license

  • Maintain reliable transportation and meet legal requirements for operating vehicle
