Job Summary/Basic Function
About This Role:
Lamar University Regional Admissions Counselors are responsible for recruiting prospective students by promoting Lamar University programs to undergraduate students, pre-admission advisement and matriculation to ensure enrollment goals are met. This position
is a remote position and will live in the Southeast Texas area and reports directly to one of the Assistant Directors of Admissions
What You'll Do
advisement to prospective students, parents, families, and other members of the public
recruitment strategies to include, but not limited to automated and personalized
communication, community college visits, pre-screened cold calling, presentations, etc.
students and their parents to promote Lamar University and its programs
Application, Federal Application for Financial Student Aid (FAFSA) and other pre-college
preparation requirements and questions
throughout their first recruitment cycle through one-on-ones, team meetings, chat
availability, shadowing opportunities, etc.
and recruitment specialty areas
and other constituencies in activities designed to prepare students for college and
enrollment at LU
campus, including but not limited to Cardinal View, Admitted Student Day, Cardinal
Sendoffs, Internal Staff Conferences, etc.

Extensive travel within Lamar University's recruitment zones
Regular travel to Lamar University
Evening and weekend hours are required

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree OR · Combination of college credit and applicable higher education experience may be substituted while actively pursuing bachelor's degree
Valid driver's license
Maintain reliable transportation and meet legal requirements for operating vehicle

Preferred Qualifications
Bilingual (English and Spanish).
Experience recruiting a varied student population including low socioeconomic (SES), first generation, and other groups traditionally underrepresented in higher education.
Sales experience and familiarity with customer relationship management systems (CRMs), relationship selling, and other sales techniques.
