Position Title: Refugee Health Advocate
FLSA Classification: Non-exempt

Hiring Range: $16.00-20.75/hr. DOE

Primary Function of Position:
As a vital member of our Health Services team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring seamless care coordination, efficient scheduling, and effective medical interpretation for our clients. Your responsibilities will extend beyond the office, as you'll spend up to 50% of your time directly engaging with clients and collaborating with community partners-especially health services providers. Additionally, your expertise in interpretation will be leveraged across various programs, including Job Development, Case Management, Youth Services, and Refugee Foster Care.
Major Position Responsibilities
- Health Screening Coordination: Collaborate with the Heath Screening Coordinator to ensure completion of health screenings, establish care, and referral appointments.
- Client Assistance: Interpretation, transportation, and support for Health Screening and follow-up care.
- Immunization Tracking: Monitor client immunizations and schedules.
- Mental Health Support: Assist in the coordination of mental health appointments, assessments, and education.
- Ongoing Medical Care: Assist in managing clients' ongoing medical care.
- Scheduling Coordination: Prevent conflicts and no-shows by aligning calendars and stakeholders.
- Documentation Management: Complete necessary forms and case notes.
- Staff Meetings: Regularly attend scheduled team meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Work Environment
- This position is in a professional office environment using standard equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
- Work includes transporting clients to and from appointments in the community using agency vehicles and public transportation.
Physical Demands
- Work requires sitting and standing for long periods, walking moderate distances, and driving.
- This role includes driving locally to teach health promotion curriculum and to support other health service activities.

Education, Training, and Experience
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution or equivalent experience.
- Familiar with and supportive of the mission of Catholic Community Services of Utah and the vision of the Catholic Church articulated by the diocesan bishop.
- Experience with multicultural and refugee community
Background Screening Requirement
- Must be able to pass a national BCI/FBI background check.
Licenses, Certifications, and Credentials
- Current Utah driver's license, proof of auto insurance with minimum policy liability limits of $50,000 per person and $100,000 per incident, 21 years of age or older, a clean driving record, and ability to meet CCS vehicle safety requirements.
Position status and expected schedule
- This position is full-time (40 hours per week) and non-exempt.
- Monday through Friday from 8:30 am - 5:00 pm. Earlier start times and later end times may be required based on client appointments.
