Refugee Community Based Organization Development VISTA

The Refugee Community Based Organization Development VISTA is one of ten AmeriCorps VISTA members involved in the Utah Refugee VISTA Project (URVP). Our VISTAs serve at three sites across the Salt Lake Valley, but still work closely with one another. URVP VISTAs can expect professional development, mentorship, and support from AmeriCorps and their host organizations.

Serving in Salt Lake City, there is always something new to do! From international film festivals to cultural celebrations and abundant access to year-round outdoor recreation, there's something for everyone. Member Duties : As the Refugee Community Organization Development VISTA, your goal will be to connect refugee communities with targeted resources to meet assessed needs. You will support interested and existing refugee community groups through nonprofit development pathways, programmatic offerings, and customized community resources.

The ideal candidate will have an interest in community empowerment, nonprofit management, and program development. They must have excellent cross-cultural communication, writing/editing skills, and a willingness to provide community outreach and education. They will be comfortable in training, assessing, and partnering with refugee community members and programs to best meet identified needs and desired program outcomes
