Overview The Field Service Technician is responsible for the management, scheduling, and completion of all service and warranty related work. The Field Service Technician must have the ability to work both independently and as a member of the branch team. This position will interact closely with the Branch Manager, the Senior Electrical Foreman, Construction Supervisor and the Field Service Team. Responsibilities * Organize, lead, and maintain the warranty and service schedule. Ensuring the timely communication and completion of service and warranty work with an emphasis on safety, quality, and customer satisfaction * Work with the Electrical Foreman, Construction Supervisor and the Branch Manager to allocate labor resources to service and warranty projects as needed * Troubleshoot and resolve solar electric warranty and service issues that arise with: modules, inverters, monitoring and balance of system components * Investigate and mitigate any reported roof leaks including thorough documentation: complete roof leak checklist, photos and written observations * Communicate with the Construction Supervisor, and Engineering Team members to resolve any redline issues * Receive, update and complete Field Service Dispatches (FSDs) with Service Dashboard in Salesforce * May lead regular meetings to align and train the local field service team on best practices * May support the on-boarding and training of new members of the field service team * Assist with other branch tasks including inspections and site audits when assigned Qualifications REQUIREMENTS (EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATIONS, AND OTHER SKILLS) * High School diploma is required, college degree is preferred * Valid state or local Electrical Journeyman certification or license preferred. Depending on state requirements an Electrical Journeyman certification or license may be required * Knowledge of the NEC and applicable codes and standards * 1 - 3 years of previous field construction or solar experience required * Must be a motivated team player, looking to succeed * PV design or PV electrical experience is preferred * Excellent customer service skills * Excellent verbal and written communication skills * Excellent organizational and time management skills * Professional appearance and interaction * Strong computer skills * Ability to drive to multiple sites throughout the day. Must maintain a clean driving record with ability to pass driving background check. As a Commercial Field Service Electrician, you will report to the Field Manager and provide diagnostic, troubleshooting, preventive and corrective maintenance services to Tesla's energy products including but not limited to: * Commercial solar PV systems * Batteries such as Power Packs and Mega Packs * Electric vehicle Charging Stations The Tesla Energy Field Energy Operations team is responsible for the ongoing success of Tesla Energy's class leading fleet of energy products. As part of our team, you will be empowered to work across all of Tesla to solve problems and ensure the success of our Commercial Energy field service execution. Working cross-functionally with Field Service Technician and Electrician counterparts, Environment and Operations personnel, Health and Safety, and Field Service Leadership teams, you will leverage your hands-on knowledge and experience to ensure a positive customer experience and exceptional performance of Tesla's Commercial products. Duties/Responsibilities * Perform required preventive maintenance activities on commercial inverters to maintain warranty coverage. * Respond to corrective maintenance cases on commercial solar PV, commercial energy storage systems, vehicle charging stations and updating online case logs accurately. * Attend and demonstrate outstanding performance at multiple inverter training schools. * Work closely with members of the Operations Engineering Systems Reliability team to respond to open case directions and provide data where requested. * Report writing, where required, to comply with deliverables in commercial O&M contracts. * Respond to customers' concerns with the performance or functionality of their system. * Ensure the vehicle, tooling, electronics, software, and company issued property are well-kept. Required Skills/Abilities * Minimum a valid Journeyman Electrician card required to perform electrical work in the states where work will be performed. * Understanding of the NEC codes that relate to solar PV installations, and knowledge of NFPA 70E practices. * Proficiency in installing grid-tied inverters and ability to work with various ground and roof mount racking systems. * Proficient working with spreadsheets, word processing, and computer-based applications (e.g. time tracking, case management, etc.). * Education and Experience * Preferred industry experience in installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting solar PV systems, battery storage or electric vehicle charging stations. Physical Requirements * Must be able to work at great heights, must be able to work in extreme environments, must be able to perform prolonged periods of repetitious duties, and must be able to lift at least 50 pounds frequently.
