Responsible for monitoring, servicing, maintaining, and repairing all refrigeration, kitchen equipment as well as all related equipment.

  • Responsible for monitoring, servicing, repairing and performing preventative maintenance on all refrigeration and kitchen equipment and any equipment related to this discipline.
  • Determine voltage requirements, identify incoming power sources, and wire up and/or rewire electrical equipment as needed.
  • Must be able to determine proper refrigerant levels.
  • Maintain and log the working conditions of all equipment; keeps machinery operating in a safe, efficient manner, acceptable with all health codes.
  • Monitors temperature controls and takes actions to maintain proper operation on refrigeration and kitchen equipment; reads schematics and performs troubleshooting on all mechanical equipment.
  • Responsible for ordering replacement parts, research vendors for supplies, receiving and stocking parts, and maintaining an organized parts inventory.
  • Ability to operate the equipment required to move the parts and equipment into place to perform the task.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


  • Minimum three years Refrigeration and HVAC repair or related experience
  • Knowledgeable with high and low voltage controls and able to read schematics
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions thoroughly
  • Ability to plan a project, including parts needed, materials needed, and labor required to complete a project
  • Must be able to communicate with fellow workers and supervisors through written and verbal communication
  • Must have the ability to perform general mathematics, such as addition, subtraction, division and multiplication
  • Must read, write, speak and understand English

VIEW JOBS 7/11/2020 12:00:00 AM 2020-10-09T00:00 JOB DESCRIPTION Title: Facilities Technician Department/Division: Facilities Status: Fulltime / Hourly / DOE Supervisor: Facilities Manager Subordinates: none POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Facilities Manager, the Facilities Technician will maintain and operation of all Pala facilities (inside and outside). This position must ensure that facility related duties are prioritized and completed in a safe, timely, cost-effective, and efficient manner. Occasional weekend work is required. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: ? Performs necessary mechanic skills, including but limited to mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and troubleshooting of production machines. ? Performs minor electrical maintenance including, but not limited to replacement or repair of fixtures (i.e., wall switches and outlets, incandescent and fluorescent bulbs and tubes, ballast, sockets, fuses, minor appliances, cords, etc.) using appropriate hand, power, and specialty tools. ? Performs minor plumbing maintenance (i.e., replacement or repair of leaks in drains and faucets, unclogging of drains, adding new lines, etc.). ? Performs minor painting, carpentry and masonry work (i.e., preparing surfaces and using brush, sprayer, or roller to apply paints, stains, and varnishes, hanging doors, fitting locks, and handles, etc.). ? Operate a variety of equipment to maintain outdoor areas operate riding mowers, push mowers, light-duty vehicles, blowers, sweepers, trimmers, edger, and weed eaters. ? Rake, sweep, blow and pick up clippings, paper, and trash from facilities. ? Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test, and make adjustments. ? Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines and production equipment. ? Order parts and components for repairs as needed. ? Assist with the organization and inventory of spare parts. ? Keeps Facilities Manager informed of all pertinent information (such as absences, tardiness, etc.), time-off requests, and any other pertinent information. ? Monitor and update events calendar daily to coordinate and perform event set-ups, and other Tribal functions. ? Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas. ? Performs other related duties as directed by the Facilities Manager. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, CERTIFICATIONS, AND ABILITIES: ? Knowledge of the practices, methods, tools, and equipment used to complete the necessary tasks. ? Knowledge of the operation and care of equipment, tools, and supplies used relating to the job. ? Knowledge of materials and products used in groundskeeping work. ? Knowledge of basic grounds maintenance procedures, including mowing, edging, raking, and weeding. ? Knowledge of HVAC and maintenance of HVAC systems. ? Excellent written and oral communication skills. ? Detail-oriented with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems. ? Ability to effectively organize, multitask, and work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven work environment. ? Ability to communicate in a proactive and solution-focused manner, including keeping management aware of potential issues. ? Ability to work independently and manage one's time. ? Ability to perform moderate to heavy physical work with prolonged standing and walking for extended periods, walking over rough or uneven surfaces, stretching, bending, and pushing, stooping, climbing, crouching, crawling, moving, lifting, and carrying loads weighing between 50-100 pounds. WORK ENVIRONMENT ? Exposure to inclement weather conditions while performing work including exposure to wet and/or humid conditions ? Work is performed outdoors while exposed to fumes, odors, dust, dirt, rain, heat, cold, chemicals, and machinery with moving parts ? The noise level in the work environment is loud when operating equipment. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: ? Minimum high school diploma or GED Equivalent. ? Minimum 3-5 years of working as a Facilities Tech or HVAC Service Technician. ? Minimum 1-year experience in landscape maintenance. ? Basic computer knowledge, including Microsoft Word and Excel. ? Must acknowledge and agree to maintain a Drug-Free workplace (including marijuana) as a condition of employment with the Pala Band of Mission Indians. ? Indian preference will apply.
