Position Purpose & Summary
Refrigeration Design and Specification Engineer is responsible for oversite of Cargill Protein (CP) industrial refrigeration system design and specification providing direction to multiple plant locations to ensure consistent design standards. Is an expert in the design and function of industrial ammonia refrigeration systems, industrial HAVC systems, and alternate cooling technologies. Works with third party experts and consultants to design new industrial ammonia refrigeration systems and industrial HAVC systems. Is responsible for writing and cataloging standards and specifications for all components and materials for the industrial refrigeration and HVAC sytems. Works closely with technical safety team to ensure consistency in design and to continuously improve standards documentation. Acts as an expert resource to process design teams, technical safety teams and to plant engineers. Assists in troubleshooting. Works with strategic sourcing on preferred vendor agreements. May be located at any Cargill Protein facility in NA. Travels frequently up to 50%
4 year degree in Engineering
Extensive industrial ammonia refrigeration design and operational experience - 7 years minimum
Proven leadership of technical teams through facilitation and influence
Professional verbal communication skills
Excellent technical writing skills
Demonstrated ability to manage and oversee multiple projects and prioritize actions.
Intermediate level proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite of applications. Experience in CMMS; PHAPro; AutoCAD
Ammonia refrigeration operations experience
Willing and able to travel up to 50% of the time
CIRO (Certified Industrial Refrigeration Operator), CRES (Certified Refrigeration Energy Specialist) or other approved Technical Certification.
OSHA experience in inspection processes
Hands on work experience with Refrigeration & HVAC equipment and processes
Understanding of industry practices for preventative and predictive maintenance processes.
