The Marathon Petroleum Company's Robinson Refinery is seeking candidates for a full-time TAR Refining Engineer to support the Maintenance Turnaround group. Position reports directly to the TAR Maintenance Supervisor. The hours of the position are: Monday
6:30 AM - 5:00 PM and must support TAR once a year 30-60 days, 7days a week and up to 13 hour days. This position does not support on-call.
Review turnaround work scope to identify engineering assistance and/or engineering project required work scope and ensure iTAR has information captured.
Assist planners with identifying applicable engineering specs and standards to facilitate planning. Assist planners with technical review of material/parts selection.
Manage equipment replacements, by budgeting, performing bids, validating compliance with current engineering specifications and standards, material selection, dimensional requirements. Ensuring other departments comments (Tech Services, Operations, Inspection, Reliability) are captured.
Provide technical assistance with planning of complex work scopes, critical lift planning, complex equipment stress relieving packages, temporary decon systems, etc.
Conduct shop visits to monitor and expedite equipment fabrication.
Coordinate development of maintenance construction packages for turnaround work scopes (non-project scope).
Monitor status to identify delays and risks with turnaround engineering DSP/IFC schedules.
Review TAR phase engineering construction packages and collaborate with planning coordinators to facilitate assignments to turnaround planners assuring all scope of the package are assigned and included in turnaround plans.
Assist with defining and planning of turnaround temporary facilities and logistics.
Support the STO process which could entail providing training and oversight to contractor quality representatives and field execution coordinators.
Provide technical support during turnaround execution and/or field coordinate work scope when assigned.
Develop and coordinate execution audits for compliance with work practices.
Review revisions to corporate practices (e.g. RSP, RRD, SP, IG) and communicate impact to turnaround planning and execution.
Compile historical metrics for use as quality reviews during turnaround budgeting and planning phases. Assist with compiling and developing action plans related to turnaround lessons learned
Provide user support for turnaround project management systems (e.g. iTAR and Syntempo).
Education, Experience and Skills
Must have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
Must have at least 4 years post-graduate experience supporting maintenance or engineering within refining, petrochemical or other related industry.
Must be proficient with Microsoft Office-Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Must be able to wear appropriate PPE in the refinery (respirator), be able to physically perform all tasks in the field and take hair drug test and physical.
Must be legally authorized to work in the US without the need for future VISA sponsorship.
Travel Requirement is 5 % or less.
Relocation is available.

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
iTAR and Primavera experience preferred.
Leadership experience preferred.
Clean and valid driver's license preferred.
This position belongs to a family of jobs with increasing responsibility, competency and skill level. Actual position title and pay grade will be based on the selected candidate's experience and qualifications.(Grade 11 or 12)
