Position Summary

This position works directly with students, providing technical support for software applications and equipment, responding to basic directional questions, and interacting with the cycle of reference questions at the reference desk. The position reports to the Library Director.

Essential Functions

  • Answer basic directional and citation questions under the direction of faculty librarians.

  • Provide basic technical support to students including login, website navigation, and software applications, troubleshoot desktop computer, laptop, scanner, photocopier and software issues.

  • Provide clerical and project support to faculty librarians and library director.

  • Cross-train at circulation desk and assist in that location when appropriate;

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate's degree from an accredited college or university -or- equivalent education/experience.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.

  • Experience with customer service.

  • Experience troubleshooting basic computer hardware and peripheral issues.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

Conditions of Employment

  • Successful completion of a criminal history background check prior to employment.

  • Ability to lift, push and pull up to 25 lbs. with no restrictions.

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule.

Terms of Employment

This is an hourly position scheduled to work varied hours up to 17 hours per week. The pay rate is $13.75 per hour. Flexibility in scheduling is required to meet department needs. A collective bargaining agreement exists and membership in the Washington Federation of State Employees or payment of a service fee may be required.

Economic Services Administration is seeking a temporary Financial Services Specialist 3 to join our Customer Service Contact Center and Specialized Medical Team located in Tacoma, Washington. In this role you will provide direct customer service on the phone for all customers. You'll determine spenddown bill application, eligibility and re-eligibility for all public assistance programs by independently conducting interviews, obtaining and reviewing information from individuals, third parties and with Community Service Division's information systems, and making final eligibility decisions based on the information obtained. Additionally, you will process applications received through Washington Connection online applications, Document Management System and process all case actions using the appropriate computer programs. Some of what you'll do: * Review and make bill input decisions for Spenddown bill processing * Conduct intensive interviews to determine or re-determine eligibility for financial, Child Care, Medical and/or food assistance benefits * Obtain and review necessary data, documents, and verification for each program * Analyze oral and written information to determine accurate benefits and continued program eligibility * Refer clients to mandatory and optional services within and outside of DSHS * Assist in finding alternatives to public assistance and refer as appropriate * Explain program requirements and services available to clients * Establish over/underpayments when errors occur * Take necessary action to ensure that limited English proficiency customers receive properly translated forms and letters and that they receive translation service from certified contracted translators and interpreters * Determine accurate benefit amount by calculating income deduction and assistance unit members using the guidelines of federal and state policies, procedures and laws * Authorize necessary benefits * Read and interpret the Washington Administrative Code and Procedural Manuals to assist in the determination of eligibility * Process reported changes in client circumstances, assessing effect of reported changes on continuing eligibility and updating the case as necessary What we're looking for: * Ability to communicate with management, peers, clients and the public * Experience using a personal computer and multiple computer applications * Ability to operate multiple automated systems to include ACES, ACES 3G, Internet, Support Enforcement Maintenance System (SEMS), Bar Code, DMS, etc. * Work within time frames and deadlines which are controlled by program requirements * Ability to read and interpret the Washington Administrative Code and procedural manuals to assist in the determination of eligibility * Experience in a fast paced environment with a high volume of work Who should apply?
