Recycling-Senior Maintenance Worker

Job Description

This position involves skilled manual labor with operation of conveyor belt, quality control of commingled recyclables, and materials flowing into compactor. Will perform maintenance and minor repairs on conveyor belt and equipment.

Incumbent is under immediate supervision and has responsibilities for reports or records, and decisions are made routinely. The employee has little or no contact with the public and must abide by all safety rule and regulations.

Job Responsibilities

1.Incumbent will operate conveyor belt and keep control of commingled recyclables and materials flowing into compactor.

2.Assist in cleaning equipment, conveyor belt, hand tools, truck and appurtenances.

3.May perform minor repairs to the equipment and conveyor belt.

4.Performs manual work.

5.Responsible to complete a daily checklist of the conveyor belt.

6.Will operate a forklift and uniloader.

7.Assist other personnel in the department whenever necessary.

8.Creates reports and maintains records as directed.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Minimum Requirements - 1. Job requires an accredited high school diploma or GED equivalent

2.Job requires one (1) year experience in related field.

3.Experience with conveyor belts and balers is preferred.

4.Must have basic knowledge of hand tools to perform normal work as assigned.

5.Must be able to perform heavy manual labor under conditions involving inclement weather heat and/or cold.

6.A valid Texas Class C drivers license is required.

Physical Requirements

1.Works indoors/outdoors with occasional exposure to unpleasant environmental conditions and/or hazards.

Additional Information

1.Position is a safety sensitive position subject to random drug and alcohol testing.

2.This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

3.Job requires working evenings, weekends, holidays and during hurricane or other emergencies, etc.
