Position Specific Responsibilities

Our Recruitment and Communication Specialist collaborates with faculty and staff across campus to coordinate and expand student recruitment efforts for the Dorothy and Bill Cohen Honors College. In this role, develop and implement communications content and strategies to achieve college goals. You also will serve as a recruitment coordinator for schools and organizations that align with the college recruitment strategy and will coordinate current student participation in college recruitment and communications efforts. Cohen Honors students pursuing distinction on the transcript or diploma are choosing courses and experiences that are broader, deeper, or more complex than traditional college-level learning. We need a strong storyteller, creative and critical thinker, and planner to join a team dedicated to helping students and faculty reach ambitious goals. Summary of Responsibilities

Develops and implements communications content and strategies to achieve business goals. Collaborates with faculty and staff in a specific college, department, program and/or specific focal area to coordinate and expand student recruitment efforts. Serves as a recruitment coordinator for schools and organizations that align with the recruitment strategy.

Essential Functions

Oversees communications efforts for projects, campaigns, events, programs and/or services. May lead staff in the design and implementation of communications content.

Collaborates with university staff and related departments to develop and implement communications content and marketing campaigns and events that engage and enhance the customer experience. Interviews internal resources, collects relevant information and develops material for media releases and communications sessions.

Represents specific University colleges, departments or programs at specified schools, college and community fairs, public presentations, and/or seminars.

Participates in on and off campus recruitment programs, including group presentations; greets walk-in and scheduled visitors; maintains knowledge of all facets of the University.

May develop, coordinate and execute event planning. May coordinate all aspects of events to facilitate effective presentation of programs or events.

Creates, reviews, edits, and enhances messaging in news, print, audio, video and/or online publications and advertisements ensuring alignment with goals and objectives.

Requirements

Minimum Education

Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, business or related field by hire date

Preferred Education

  • Master's degree preferred

Minimum Experience

Two (2) years of experience in recruiting, admissions or related field

Preferred Experience

  • Research methods coursework and/or graduate thesis experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Two (2) years of experience in recruiting, retention, admissions or related field. Every 15 hours of graduate college coursework beyond a bachelor's degree can be substituted for one (1) year of experience

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and lead student programs including meeting planning and execution, event management, program goal setting and evaluation

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, competing priorities with minimal supervision

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse community of students, faculty, staff, and community partners

  • Development of collaborative programs with multiple academic areas or community partners.

  • Strong knowledge of customer service principles and demonstrated ability to establish and maintain productive professional relationships in a diverse office and academic environment that promotes teamwork

  • Experience in honors or a strongly related program

Salary Information
