ATTENTION ALL APPLICANTS: Initially the Duty Station will be the selectee's home address (Work At Home position) until the opening of the Area Census Office (ACO) in Hartford, CT. At that time the employee will be required to report to the ACO as their regular place of work.

In order to be considered, ALL APPLICANTS MUST RESIDE in one of the following Connecticut counties: Hartford, Tolland, Windham or New London.

Relocation will NOT be paid.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and manage a decentralized workforce in various geographic locations. Lead a team to ensure staffing needs are met and locally represented for all geographic locations.

  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with local news media, community leaders and organizations, local government officials to promote community cooperation and generate support for recruitment efforts.

  • Maintain liaison with organizations that refer applicants and other employment sources.

  • Recruit and train recruiting assistants, office operations supervisors and office clerks.

  • Develop and implement a recruiting campaign, monitor recruitment results to ensure large volumes of applicants apply within a specific geographic location.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

EXPERIENCE: Applicant must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in the Federal Service. Examples of experience sought for these positions include experience managing, supervising, leading as staff, assigning work and setting priorities. Experience managing a decentralized workforce. Experience providing outreach to various external networks such as local news media, community organizations and leaders, government officials. Experience communicating with internal management, training individuals and groups on recruiting techniques and strategies for hard to recruit locations. Experience implementing and monitoring a recruitment campaign to ensure large volumes of applicants apply within a specific geographic location.

OR

EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in any area with Superior Academic Achievement OR one full year of graduate education directly related to the position.
