To perform well in this role, you will need to:


  • Develop relationships with hiring managers resulting in strong partnerships to improve retention and hiring

  • Take responsibility for the recruiting process and tools and continually improve the results achieved

  • Build effective recruiting frameworks while clarifying success factors for job opportunities

  • Find creative ways to market Insteel's job opportunities to attract and hire excellent talent

  • Deliver highly effective applicant screening and interviewing skills

  • Develop the interview skills of other interviewers through both formal and informal means

  • Represent Insteel at career fairs, community hiring events, and venues where we promote the company for the purpose of recruitment

  • Establish a strong presence at select colleges and universities to attract new college graduates and interns

  • Work with local school district administration and trade/crafts schools to create awareness and interest in manufacturing career opportunities, internships, apprenticeships, and Insteel Wire Products

Human Resources Generalist:

  • Serve as the HR subject matter expert for Home Office and Insteel Engineered Products (IEP) leaders

  • Support the Home Office and IEP leadership with change initiatives based on proven change management techniques

  • Seek ways to proactively improve organizational processes and outcomes

  • Develop a leadership presence to influence and support department/function management

  • Facilitate professional development programs, including the Performance and Succession Development Process

  • Value and consider the perspectives and backgrounds of all team members

  • Develop a working knowledge of business lines and competitive markets

Essential Functions Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. * Develops and administers various human resources plan and procedures for company personnel. * Plans, organizes and controls all activities of the department. Participates in developing department goals, objectives and systems. * Implements and annually updates the compensation program; rewrites job descriptions as necessary; conducts annual salary surveys and develops merit pool (salary budget); analyzes compensation; monitors the performance evaluation program and revises as necessary. * Develops, recommends and implements personnel policies and procedures; prepares and maintains handbook on policies and procedures; performs benefits administration to include claims resolution, change reporting, approving invoices for payment, annual re-evaluation of policies for cost-effectiveness, information activities program and cash flow. * Develops and maintains affirmative action program; files EEO-1 annually; maintains other records, reports and logs to conform to EEO regulations. * Conducts recruitment effort for all exempt, nonexempt and temporary workers; writes and places advertisements; works with supervisors to screen and interview candidates; conducts reference checking; extends job offers; conducts new-employee orientations; monitors career-path program and employee relations counseling; conducts exit interviews. * Establishes and maintains department records and reports. Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings, such as seminars. Maintains organizational charts and employee directory. * Evaluates reports, decisions and results of department initiatives in relation to established goals. Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed. * Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local employment laws. Work Environment This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Travel Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.
