Hooker Furnishings Corporation, in its 98th year of business, is a designer, marketer and importer of case goods (wooden and metal furniture), leather furniture, and fabric-upholstered furniture for the residential, hospitality and contract markets. Hooker Furnishings is currently hiring for a Recruiter to work out of our High Point, NC, Martinsville, VA, or Bedford, VA location. With over 1,000 employees in 15 locations in California, Virginia, Georgia, and North Carolina including international operations in China and Vietnam, Hooker Furnishings is growing and looking for a highly motivated recruiting professional who is looking to work with a high energy HR team.

The Recruiter will be an integral part of the Human Resources team and report to the Director of Recruiting and Retention.

Responsibilities

The recruiter will have corporate recruiting responsibilities that will span across all divisions of Hooker Furnishings.

These responsibilities include:

  • Work closely with Director of Recruiting on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives.

  • Assist with writing and updating job descriptions.

  • Develop strong relationships with hiring managers and human resource departments; Regularly consult with hiring managers to ensure their staffing needs are being met.

  • Qualify candidates via screenings, skills assessments, and background checks.

  • Schedule interviews and maintain the interview calendar.

  • Send confirmation, rejection, and new hire orientation emails.

  • Help organize and attend job fairs and recruitment events in the community.

  • Provide input for the development of recruitment/retention policies and procedures.

  • Assist Director of Recruiting and Retention with execution of recruitment plan, including weekly / monthly reporting.

  • Build relationships and recruit from local colleges, tech schools, and universities.

  • Source potential and passive candidates through resumes searches, community partnerships, referrals, and internet sourcing.

  • Assist Director of Recruiting with development of recruiting SOPs and recruitment metrics.

Candidates that will be a great fit will:

  • Be passionate about recruiting, retaining, and advancing a diverse and talented workforce.

  • Thrive in a high-energy, fast-paced environment and be able to manage multiple priorities at the same time.

  • Have at least two years recruiting experience in a manufacturing/distribution industry or a related industry (required)

  • Have a positive attitude and desire to provide an exceptional interview and onboarding experience to all applicants.

  • Be bilingual (a plus, not required)

  • Have an associate's or bachelor's degree (preferred, not required)

  • Be proficient in Microsoft Office (specifically in Excel)

Shift: day shift (flexible on start time between 7 am- 9 am)

Location: This job can be based out of either our Bedford, VA, Martinsville, VA, or High Point, NC location.
