Job Responsibilities
This recruiter will be primarily responsible for the recruitment efforts in the following counties: Aiken, Lexington, Calhoun, Sumter, Florence, Dillion, Marion, Horry, Georgetown, Williamsburg, Clarendon, Orangeburg, Barnwell, Bamberg, Allendale, Colleton, Hampton, Jasper, Beaufort, Colleton, Lee, Darlington, Marlboro, Charleston and Berkeley.
Under limited supervision, participates in special deployments and any other law enforcement duties as ordered by the department. Provides guidance on the activities of other law enforcement personnel.
Provides feedback into the development of certain Agency's policies, standards and procedures; participates in the development of long- and short-term planning to accomplish departmental mission and goals. Participates in evaluations at the county level; maintains a professional communication at work inside and outside of the department; participates in training county staff; promotes public relations and maintain professional competence. Under general supervision, serves as a recruiter and coordinate volunteers and interns.
Coordinates statewide recruitment efforts for all Department jobs to include be not limited to Agents, Volunteers and Interns with assigned geographic location. Coordinates program design and implements various phases of Recruitment and volunteer and intern initiative. Attends career fairs.
Conducts special projects. Ensures program compatibility with the Agency's mission.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
A bachelor's degree with at least 15 semester hours in social or behavioral science courses and experience in probation and parole work. An associate's degree and two (2) years of military or certified law enforcement experience (to include Class 1 or Offender Supervision Specialist experience) may be substituted; or a high school diploma and four (4) years of military or certified law enforcement experience (to include Class 1 or Offender Supervision Specialist experience) may be substituted.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Certification by the Law Enforcement Training Council in accordance with 23-23-40 of the Code of Laws of South Carolina 1976.
NOTE: Must be currently Class 1 (C -1) certified law enforcement officer from the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy.
Preferred Qualifications
A bachelor's degree in criminal justice, social work, psychology, sociology, education, counseling or other social behavior sciences and experience in criminal justice, counseling, or related professional human service work.
