These positions are responsible for the development and implementation of a recreational therapy program throughout the facility. One position will work with their assigned living units; the other position will work with the Skill Care Unit (SCU), Transitional Living Unit (TLU), and the Learning Independence for the Future through Experience (LIFE) Center. This includes assessing the needs of the patients, developing programming based on patients' needs, collaborating with other disciplines, participation as an active member of the multidisciplinary team, providing training and consultation, and preparing patients for community life.

Special Notes:

Due to the nature of these positions, all applicants will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any convictions may be related to the job being filled.

All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by SRSTC or medical personnel approved by the facility prior to their start date.

Qualifications:

Minimally qualified applicants will have:

  • Certification or eligible for certification within 6 months of hire as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist. For questions regarding certification, please visit National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification.

  • Experience and education in assessing and documenting patient leisure needs and strengths

  • Experience and education with developing and implementing leisure opportunities, community services, and re-entry and independent living skills

  • Training and/or experience assisting in the development of a treatment plan

In addition, well-qualified applicants will have:

  • Experience working as a part of a multi-disciplinary team

  • Experience and/or education developing goals and objectives to meet the needs of patients

  • Experience and/or education with utilizing verbal intervention techniques (i.e., motivational interviewing)

  • Experience working in a secure setting such as a mental health or correctional facility

The incumbent directs the work of engineering assistants and drafting technicians in a collaborative team to develop plans, specifications, and estimates for highway and aviation projects. This position is responsible for creation of design plans, specifications, and estimates ensuring they meet all applicable engineering standards and departmental policies and procedures. This position collaborates with the Project Manager to procure and manage contracts for professional engineering services to scope, permit, and design airport and road improvements according to FAA and FHWA procedures, and assists in management and coordination of consultant services with the Department. Duties include coordinating technical design issues with other functional groups, the public and other government agencies. The incumbent will assist in the development of environmental documents and permits. Duties include review of consultant work products and invoices. Assistance in public and agency meetings in local and remote communities may be required. The incumbent professionally seals final plans and specifications prior to advertising the work for bid. Job responsibilities will require occasional overnight travel to project sites utilizing small aircraft and marine vessels.
