Adjunctive Therapist is responsible for providing high quality patient care, displaying good skills in assessment, treatment planning, group therapy and individual activities within a Geriatrics Mental Inpatient Health Unit. Functions as a member of the multi-disciplinary team.

Plans, coordinates, and implements the Units group therapy program, daily as well as special events.*
Provides other staff in-services in the group therapy program; audits group documentation and gives feedback to group facilitators to promote quality groups and documentation of those groups.*
Conducts therapy group sessions, displaying good theoretical knowledge of group principles and good group techniques.*
Conducts individual adjunctive therapy sessions, as assigned, displaying good theoretical knowledge and good treatment technique.*
Completes adjunctive/group therapy evaluations in prescribed time frame.*
Participates in multidisciplinary treatment staffing.
Displays good interviewing, assessment, and report writing skills.*
Completes progress notes in a timely and high quality fashion.*
Functions cooperatively as member of the treatment team.*
Communicates effectively with families and agencies, conveying a positive professional image.
Brings to the Program Director's attention significant issues related to program functioning.*
Works sufficient hours to ensure effective performance.*
Utilizes feedback regarding performance and uses supervision to improve performance.
Assists in the management of aggressive/assaultive patient utilizing approved techniques.*

Required Education and Experience
Minimum of a bachelor's degree in occupational therapy, recreational therapy, art therapy, dance therapy, music therapy or completion of a certification program.
Bachelor's degree requires one year of work experience with psychiatric population or Geri-psychiatric programs one year experience with cognitively impaired. Certification level requires two years of experience as above.
Good overall interpersonal skills, ability to work productively and effectively, ability to function well as a member of a multidisciplinary team, and the ability to represent the program well in interactions both inside and outside the unit/hospital.
Demonstrates competence in communicating medical emergencies and handling psychiatric emergencies.
