We are currently recruiting for multiple Recreational Therapists at Central Regional Hospital (CRH). The Recreational Therapist provides group treatment activities and interventions for a diverse group of multiple ages and diagnoses of patients with varying cognitive and physical levels. Job responsibilities include the following:

  • Serve as an advisor to a treatment team for the psychosocial treatment program.

  • Conduct assessments, write goals and objective, plan and implement interventions to address patient needs, and complete timely documentation.

  • Participate in departmental coverage, special events, committees, and coordination and supervision of Recreational Therapy students, interns, and volunteers.

  • Other duties as appropriate and assigned.

This is a full-time position and eligible for the full State benefits package including health insurance and retirement.  The normal working hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m  to 4:30 p.m., with occasional weekend hours; however, flexibility is required to meet hospital needs. This position is mandatory to the Adverse Weather Policy, which will be discussed in detail during the interview process.

  • Must be currently licensed as a Licensed Recreational Therapist (LRT) by the NCBRTL.

  • Knowledge in developing and implementing active treatment modalities (examples include leisure education, cognitive thought process, adaptive exercise, social skills, problem solving, copings skills, etc).

Management Preferences:

Current certification as a CTRS by the NCTRC.

Graduation from a four-year college or university with a degree in Recreational Therapy or Therapeutic Recreation, which includes an internship.

Special consideration for any credentials or licenses required by a regulatory or accreditation agency/body shall be required in addition to the state's minimum training and experience requirements.

ADA physical requirements will be discussed in detail during the interview process.  Licensed to practice recreational therapy by the North Carolina Board of Recreational Therapy Licensure.The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
