The Area of Consideration for this vacancy announcement is Fort Wainwright and surrounding communities within 150 miles of the installation. This position is located at the Birch Hill Ski & Snowboard Area.

Maintains and operates the ski lifts including main chair lift, bunny slope tow bar lift and snow tubing tow lift. Ensures safe operations and is present when lifts are operating.
Operates snowmaking system and positions snow guns to obtain maximum coverage of snow on the ski hill and insures maximum safe environment and snow surface for skiing.
Assists skiers in loading and off loading of the chair lift in a safe and proper manner.
Ensures safety of patrons (i.e., proper clothing, equipment, etc.) and is alert at all times for unsafe conditions, mechanical malfunctions, and possible injury to skiers through their own negligence.
Advises lift supervisor of any condition or occurrence that may adversely affect the safety of the operation.
Assists with physical support to the Ski Patrol Staff in the event of severe injury to patrons or staff. Reports inappropriate behavior or accidents to the Ski Patrol or Facility Coordinator.
Assists with programming as required which may include ski lessons, dog mushing activities, special events, open house program, Youth Ski Week programs, and ski/snowboard activities.
Upkeeps area of responsibility, to include the ski lodge, in a high state of cleanliness both inside and outside. Clears snow from customer traffic areas. Assists the Skeet Range Manager with snow removal and restocking targets.

Ability to stands, bends, stoops, and climbs for long periods of time on surfaces that may be wet or slippery
Ability to lifts or drags heavy equipment, supplies and materials weighing up to 100 pounds
Ability to work outside under varied conditions and temperatures often below zero
Exposure to long periods of cold, dark, snow, bright sunlight, and extreme weather
Subject to cuts and bruises
Ability to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays


Knowledge of ski lifts, ski area operations and chemicals used for snowmaking.
Ability to read and interpret gages and make appropriate entries into logs.
Ability to understand and support chair evacuations.
Ability to operate and drive a variety of vehicles and equipment (e.g. snow blower, snow machine, snow gun).
Ability to work with other lift attendants.
Ability to provide quality customer service.
Possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
