Brief outline on retirement:

Pathfinder is a 401K with 3 plan choices:

Standard: 4.5% we put in 6%

High: 7% we put in 7%

  • You have the opportunity to put in any amount over 4.5% or 7%. We put in 6% for anything less than 7% and 7% for anything over 7%.

You vest 20% each year. At 5 years you are fully vested.

Additional Incentive amounts:

You can earn up to 10% of your annual salary by completing any incentive bonus listed that does not pertain to your job description and that would benefit this facility (example: keeping your CNA cert updated while working in accounting is $2600 per year because it will benefit this facility, but getting your cleat would not benefit this facility so it wouldn't be one that you would be able to get the incentive pay for)

Longevity bonus:

Longevity begins after 2 years. You receive your first longevity payment in the pay period of your anniversary date.

You will receive a longevity payment on year 2 and every year after but on even years it will increase (Example: year 2 -$250, year 3 -$250, Year 4 -$426 so on and so on)

Holiday leave: 11 holidays accrued yearly to use within 6 months after accrual date.

Admin Weather leave: We are considered essential personnel; we will be required to work during inclement weather. You will accrue up to 8 hours per day or 32 hours total of admin leave if you are working during inclement weather to use within the 6 months from the date of accrual.

Job Description

Basic Purpose

Positions in this job family are assigned responsibilities related to the direction, development, planning and coordination of a variety of recreational programs and activities at the Norman Veterans Home.

Typical Functions

  • The functions performed in this job family will vary by level, unit and organization, but may include the following:

  • Overall responsibility of the Activity Department by developing and implementing departmental approved direct and indirect resident care programs and group sessions designed to meet the unique needs of residents and consistent with residents' individual care plans, including, but not limited to; scheduling/conducting programs and group sessions; documenting/reporting progress, coordinating with other staff; establishing and maintaining a harmonious and cooperative working relationship with other staff and other disciplines in order to meet resident needs, as evidenced by maintaining a good working relationship with other disciplines, use of creative problem solving and carrying out program change.

  • Be knowledgeable of the causes of abnormal behavior and behavior modification techniques of our Residents. Be responsible for Recreation Budget and its accountabilities.

  • Conduct and oversee initial interviews of residents following departmental procedures and policies within 2 weeks of admission, including interview with resident, information from social work staff, nursing staff and available records

  • Update initial assessments at required time frames and use this information in developing department programs and resident individual care plans. To assess physical, social and behavioral abilities of all residents.

  • Responsibility for teaching recreation workers skills to get maximum participation by residents in activities and one on one person centered care.

  • Ensure appropriate coverage for department as a result of scheduling work hours for resident care coverage, providing substitute coverage for resident care programs when necessary.

  • Report daily staff attendance to Personnel Department and keep the Assistant Administrator informed of absences.

  • Provide immediate supervision of Recreation Workers and be able to motivate volunteers program aids to ensure carrying out of Department Policies and Procedures and to ensure a high standard of appropriate treatment of residents.

  • Act as rater for all Recreation Workers.

Knowledge, Skills

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required at this level include knowledge of recreation programs, and of the principles of training and supervision. Ability is required to maintain positive public relations; to convey ideas and instructions and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; to organize the elements of a program and oversee implementation; to assess program effectiveness; and to develop new activities and programs that upgrade the variety and quality of recreational programs.

Effective interaction with residents, staff, family members and other guest of the Norman Veteran's Home.

Develop system for ordering and inventorying departmental supplies and for requesting supplies and requesting departmental repairs. Manage by the "Quality Oklahoma" process and keeping Assistant Administrator fully informed of all operations.

Education and Experience

Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of a bachelor's degree in health, physical education, recreation or a closely related field and three years of experience in supervising recreational programs in Long Term Care Facilities.

Special Requirements

Applicants required to have Activity Director/Social Services Director Certification

Applicants must be willing and able to perform all job-related travel normally associated with this position.
