The Recreation Supervisor works together with students and staff to develop a program for their leisure time.
Supervises all recreation/non-vocational staff activity insuring that students receive instruction in the safety aspects of all activities, e.g., drown proofing. Conducts in-service staff training session
Plans and arranges for all on-center activities, to include provision for cultural activities, arts and crafts, sports and games
Maintains recreation/non-vocational supplies and equipment, and orders replacements as necessary
Submits timely reports on recreation/non-vocational activities
Formulates and recommends new or revised recreation/non-vocational programs to the Residence Director
Insures that all programs comply with DOL requirements
Makes community contacts with directors of recreational facilities to create a favorable impression and to develop rapport
Minimum: Bachelor's degree in physical education or related field. Two year's experience in supervising recreation/non-vocational programs, including athletics, sports and crafts, music and drama.
Required: Must possess a valid State driver's license.
Ability to obtain a CDL if required. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Working knowledge of various recreation/avocational activities.
Must obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid certification.
Ability to effectively relate to student population. Ability to inspire students and staff
Knowledge Required: Thorough knowledge of a variety of recreation/non-vocational activities.
Thorough knowledge of a variety of recreation/non-vocational activities. Ability to obtain lifeguard certification as required. Must obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid certification.
Ability to relate effectively with trainee population. Ability to inspire and motivate trainees.
