Responsible for the overall operation and control of the area recreational programs, property and equipment. The manager acts as the MCCS area liaison/representative with the area command, sharing information about all of the facilities in that area.
Supervises the layout and preparation of the center, athletic fields, courts and tracks. Responsible for the purchase, upkeep and maintenance of equipment registered on the Consolidated Memorandum Receipt, and will make regular and detailed checks for sanitation, cleanliness and safety of the all areas. Responsible for the proper training of staff on all aspects of the Fitness Center.
Responsible for gear issue and receipt of gear check-in. Deals with staff and patrons to resolve complaints and grievances. Plans and schedules work assignments to accommodate weekends, evenings and holidays, as well as employee performance appraisals and other personnel actions.
Submits employee time cards to the appropriate section in a timely manner. Responsible for tournaments as well as the publicity and scheduling of such events. Serves as a fitness expert to Marines by providing fitness events, HITT workouts, group exercise classes, health related assessments and lectures.
May receive and register payment for services using a cash register. Develops and manage APF/NAF budgets for each fiscal year. Develops and administers special projects and special events within the Wellness Department.

Completion of a Bachelor's degree is required for this position. Must possess a baccalaureate degree preferably in recreation management, exercise science, exercise physiology, kinesiology, fitness or related field from an accredited college or university. A minimum of three years' experience within the health/fitness industry is required.
Must possess and maintain a personal trainer certification from a nationally accredited certifying organization, or certification must be obtained within 6 months of employment. Must have a valid CA driver's license. Must be certified in CPR within 6 months of employment.
