GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The purpose of this classification is to organize, develop and supervise specialty recreation programs and activities for any assigned location or facility.

This position will oversee Parks and Recreation's (LPR's) comprehensive volunteer program, providing a streamlined customer experience for volunteers that includes volunteer opportunities that occur in every facet: golf, aquatics, community centers, cultural areas, events, maintenance, therapeutic recreation, natural area parks, equestrian programs, and more in facilities, green spaces and programs. In addition, this position will have direct supervision of volunteer relations that contribute to LPR. This position will serve as a main contact for the Adopt-A-Park program and will serve as the contact for volunteer opportunities shared with other LFUCG divisions. Lastly, this position will also be responsible for collecting, compiling, organizing and summarizing division data for volunteer, recreation, aquatics, and golf programs.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in a field related to the job
  • Two (2) years of related experience

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Develops, implements, and supervises program and/or facility activities and events

  • Coordinates efforts to improve programs through program evaluation, community outreach and marketing

  • Recruits, trains, supervises and evaluates the work of subordinates, volunteers and contractors

  • Oversees program and facility budgeting, finances and purchasing

  • Performs administrative duties related to goals, objectives and performance including but not limited to scheduling, data entry, reporting, and maintaining inventory of supplies

  • Maintains data collection forms, confirming fields are updated, link are working

  • Providing updates on data inputs to leadership

  • Summarizes and presents data to Parks leadership

  • Assists in compiling and reporting data for accreditation and presentations

  • Enforces rules and regulations of recreational facilities to maintain compliance and ensure safety; oversees facility maintenance and repairs, as needed

  • Performs related work as assigned

SPECIAL LICENSE/CERTIFICATION

  • Valid Driver's License
  • First Aid and CPR/AED Certifications must be obtained within first six (6) months of employment and maintained as a condition of continued employment

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to work weekends and evenings, holidays, perform on-call duty and split shifts when required to best serve the public in offering recreational opportunities
