Position Information
This is a part-time position with weekly hours ranging from 5 to29 per week.This position will teach and facilitate program activities; maintain direct communication with Program Coordinator; assist in program planning, implementation and evaluation; and be responsible for safety, effectiveness, and quality of programs.
Job Summary
Maintain an in-depth understanding of all program activities.
Has technical proficiency related to the conduct of program-relevant activities.
Ensures the safety of all participants.
Assist in gathering documents, equipment, and transportation related to program.
Provide monthly reports (as needed) to the program coordinator on program evaluations, staff performance, and program performance.
Maintains current certifications appropriate to program area.
Attends trips, trainings and staff meetings.
Determine instructor and participant skills ability and comfort with particular activity environment.
Require participants to use equipment appropriately.
Maintain and keep all equipment organized.
Report supplies needed to Program Coordinator.
Administer first aid and report injuries/accidents to Program Coordinator.
Maintain rosters, attendance, health forms, injury reports and disciplinary records.
Complete program evaluation and assistant staff assessment.
Communicate professionally with parents and participants.
Communicate with schools regarding field tripsandschedule
Naturalistsas needed.
Collaborate with staff to develop newandimprove current curriculumforfield trips based on current Georgiaeducationstandards.
Collaborate with staff to develop newandimprove current outdoor adventure, outdooreducationandenvironmentaleducationcurriculums.
Recruit, interview, and train Naturalists for use in Environmental Education activities including classes, camps, special events, etc.
Maintainandpursue knowledge ofenvironmentaleducation, exhibit animals, conservationandoutdoor trends.
Assist with organizing outdoor adventure, outdooreducationandenvironmentaleducationsuppliesandequipment.
Keep activity space cleanandorganized.
Assist with animal careandanimal exhibits.
Assist with front desk operations.
Provide good customer service to customersandvisitors.
Prepare, completeandmaintain various correspondence, evaluations,forms, records, reportsandrequests.
Aidinoperational aspects at Sawnee Mountain Preserve.
Complete other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
One year previous experience working with youth in a camp, educational or program setting
Enjoys working with youth
Complete in-house training
Minimum age is 18 years old
Current First Aid/CPR or obtain within 6 months of employment
Current certification related to program
Pass Criminal Background Check
MVR background check to drive Fleet Vehicles
