This position plans, organizes and conducts educational and recreational programs for participants of all age groups. This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

This position will report directly to the Supervisor III/Supervisor IV. Essential Functions

  • Assists supervisor in reviewing and preparing recommendations for new recreation center programs and assists in the implementation of approved center programs.

VIEW JOBS 1/27/2023 12:00:00 AM 2023-04-27T00:00 <p>Position Purpose</p><p>Welcome to the City of Dallas!</p><p>The City of Dallas is one of the largest employers in the DFW Metroplex.</p><p>Our employees havegrowth opportunities and a chance to make a difference inthecommunity.</p><p>What do we offer?</p><p>A competitive salary, five years vested pension plan, great benefits package that includes health, vision and dental insurance, pet insurance, tuition reimbursement, qualifying childcare assistance, paid time off and more.</p><p>Join our diverse workforce and help us in providing excellent service to the residents of Dallas while building a rewarding career.</p><p>Work is performed under the general supervision of the Aquatics Supervisor for the Dallas Park and Recreation Department Dallas Independent School District (DPARD/DISD) Partnership Program at multiple DISD indoor swimming pools located throughout the City of Dallas.</p><p>Essential Functions</p><ul><li><p>Observes swimmers from guard stand or poolside and cautions swimmers of rule violations to enforce pool safety rules.</p></li><li><p>Conducts appropriate emergency and rescue techniques including cardiopulmonary resuscitation for distressed or drowning swimmers.</p></li><li><p>Administers first aid to pool patrons for injuries such as cuts, abrasions, sprains, and contusions to provide basic medical assistance as needed.</p></li><li><p>Reports injuries, accidents, and assistance rendered to patrons to the pool manager and documents each occurrence to maintain proper files on such occurrences.</p></li><li><p>Cleans pool, pool area, and restrooms to maintain a clean and sanitary facility.</p></li><li><p>Inspects pool equipment such as ladders, diving boards, and guard stands.</p></li><li><p>Monitors and documents water quality to ensure that the pool water maintains a proper chemical balance.</p></li><li><p>May perform head lifeguard or cashier duties to assist the pool manager in pool operation duties.</p></li><li><p>Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports.</p></li><li><p>Enforces rules.</p></li><li><p>Responds to emergency situations in an effective manner.</p></li><li><p>Instructs participants enrolled in the Learn to Swim program.</p></li><li><p>Plans lessons, evaluates individual participant progress, and provides corrective feedback.</p></li><li><p>Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports.</p></li><li><p>Enforces rules.</p></li><li><p>Responds to emergency situations in an effective manner.</p></li><li><p>Communicates with the general public regarding lessons.</p></li><li><p>Recruits, trains and assigns class aides and assistants. Insures there is a lifeguard on duty.</p></li><li><p>Available for all special events, swim meets, and swimming classes or other functions.</p></li><li><p>Perform other duties as assigned.</p></li></ul><p>Minimum Qualifications</p><ul><li><p>Skilled in the areas of patron surveillance, rule enforcement, victim recognition, and emergency response</p></li><li><p>Knowledge of American Red Cross Lifeguard program</p></li><li><p>Ability to complete required In-service trainings</p></li><li><p>Skilled in the areas of teaching and coaching school age and adult participants</p></li><li><p>Knowledge of American Red Cross Learn to Swim program</p></li><li><p>Ability to prepare and follow lesson plans and evaluate participant progress</p></li><li><p>Sixteen years old</p></li><li><p>Current American Red Cross Lifeguard certification and American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certification or the ability to obtain such by the start date of a job offer. If required certifications are not obtained by the start date of a job offer candidates must attend next available certification course offered by the City of Dallas before reporting to assigned work location.</p></li></ul><p>Supplemental Information</p><ul><li><p>Work environment consists primarily of indoor swimming pools and a small office space adjacent to the pool deck.</p></li><li><p>Lifting, pushing, pulling, climbing, sitting, and standing for long periods</p></li><li><p>Moving and lifting pool lifts, backboards, speakers, tables, canopies and recreational games</p></li><li><p>Climbing ladders and stairs to access elevated lifeguard stations and to enter and exit swimming pools</p></li><li><p>Swimming continuously for up to 300 yards</p></li><li><p>Entering and exiting swimming pools without the aid of stairs or a ladder</p></li><li><p>Providing appropriate physical support for children and adults learning and practicing swimming skills and entering and exiting swimming pools.</p></li></ul><p>The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by personnel assigned to this classification and is not necessarily an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties and skill required.</p><p>The salary listed on this job posting is the starting salary range; amount offered will depend upon qualifications.</p><br> City Of Dallas, TX Dallas TX
