Recreation Program Instructor - Youth Sports

The City of Lenexas Parks and Recreation Department is currently accepting applications for a part-time, year-round Recreation Program Instructor - Youth Sports.

Position Summary

Instructs Lenexa Parks and Recreation program participants in recreation classes. Prepares curriculum and presents it to participants as a positive first contact on behalf of the City. Instructs youth sports programs as well as provide field supervision for leagues.

Key Responsibilities

• Assists in creating and planning course curriculum, developing materials and programs that can continually be used by the City.

• Instructs and delivers classes to participants.

• Assists in set up, supervising, and tear down for youth sport leagues.

Additional Examples of Work Performed

• Assists with special events and festivals as needed.

• Assists in the promotion of classes including writing materials for Town Talk and/or other marketing material as requested by supervisor.

Qualifications

Minimum: High school diploma or G.E.D.; Two years instruction and customer service experience; Any certification required for an instructor to teach a specific class; CPR/AED certification.

Desired: General parks and recreation experience.

Compensation and Benefits

Starting rate of pay is $16.50 per hour depending on qualifications and directly related experience.

Offers of employment are conditional upon successful completion of a pre-employment physical and drug screen. A background check is required if over the age of 18.
