In late 2010, under the leadership of The Wonderful Company ("TWC") owners Lynda and Stewart Resnick, we launched the Central Valley Initiative in the rural community of Lost Hills, California, where TWC's main nut processing campus is located. The project changed the face of Lost Hills through infrastructure improvements, educational initiatives, health and wellness programming, civic engagement efforts, community events and leadership development many of which are centered in and around the Lost Hills Park.

TWC is seeking a Recreation Program Coordinator to coordinate, organize, and manage the implementation of a variety of recreational and/or community service programs, including, but not limited to: day camps, sports programs, youth, teen, adult and family, classes, and special events.

This position provides a great opportunity for someone who is passionate about community engagement, enhancing the lives of others, and developing a career in the Parks and Recreation profession.

Here's what you'll do:


  • Plan, organize, develop, schedule and operate recreation and community service programs

  • Own the participant registration processes for all programs

  • Schedule activities/events/meetings necessary to recruit, train and supervise participants, staff and volunteers

  • Communicate necessary information such as schedules, changes to schedules, team rosters, rules, and other pertinent information to participants in a professional and timely manner

  • Assist with public information duties such as preparing and distributing flyers, social media, and brochures

  • Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment

  • Provide administrative support and responds to public inquiries about the facilities/programs.

  • Implement and collects evaluations from participants, staff, volunteers and others with regards to park recreation programs

  • Responsible for supervising part-time, volunteer, and contract personnel


  • Highly organized with a strong attention to detail

  • Excellent communication skills (both written and oral)

  • Strong computer skills, including the ability to create dynamic master schedules

  • Ability to see the big picture with willingness to "roll up sleeves" and do whatever it takes to get the job done

  • Dedicated to continuous improvement

  • Ability to analyzes and evaluates program delivery methods and make recommendations

  • Experience Working with youth and/or teen demographics

  • Is passionate about health and can be a wellness advocate

  • Bilingual (speaking, reading, writing) Spanish and English

  • Ability to work some evenings and weekends

Here's what you'll bring to the table:


  • Bachelor's degree required

  • 1-3+ years of relevant professional experience in program development, project management, recreation management or youth programming

  • Experience working in Latino (ideally rural/agricultural) communities

  • First Aid and CPR/AED certified

  • Holds a valid driver's license

  • Able to pass a comprehensive background check


The Lost Hills Park Recreation Park Coordinator will report to the Senior Manager of Community Programming. The Wonderful Company maintains compensation and benefit packages that are highly competitive and commensurate with experience.

The Academy's first school opened in 2009 serving students of Delano and surrounding communities in grades 6-12. In seven years, the Academy has become the premier high school in the region, with 75% of its graduates attending 4 year universities. This Fall we will be adding an elementary school to our Delano campus and launching a brand new charter school in Lost Hills. In this inaugural year for Lost Hills we will serve approximately 125 students in grades PreK-2 and rapidly grow to serve students through 12th grade. Here's what you'll do: Major Duties and Responsibilities: * Prepare lesson plans for a program designed to increase academic achievement, physical fitness, and awareness of healthy eating habits for approval by the After-School Program Coordinator at least one (1) week in advance. * Assist the After-School Program Coordinator and After School Site Lead in developing, organizing, and implementing activities that promote the mission of the after-school program. * Record student attendance and submit daily to the After-School Program Site Lead no later than fifteen (15) minutes into the start of your session each day. * Manage student behavior through use of positive reinforcement strategies and communicate any incidents to the After-School-Program Site Lead no later than end of day. * Attend all after-school program staff meetings and up to three (3) professional development days per year, all of which will be held during your regularly scheduled time of 2:30pm -- 6:30pm. * Effectively communicate with all after-school program staff * Call the After-School Program Site Lead or After-School Program Coordinator to inform them of any tardy or absence from work as early as possible, not later than 12:00pm on the day of your intended tardy or absence. * Arrive to work at your scheduled time every day and be prepared to work on your lesson plans during the daily prep time (2:30pm -- 3:30pm). * Attend any trainings offered by WCPA.
