JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION: Life Guard, Lake Monocan

FLSA: Non-Exempt

DEPARTMENT: Recreation

REPORTS TO: Lake Monocan Supervisors and Manager

SUMMARY: While on duty, the lifeguard must monitor the water and inflatables for safety and proper usage by guests; checking the beach and both docks before, during, and after shift for safety and cleanliness, making the appropriate corrections when needed. This may include both short and long periods of time on the lifeguard stand. Lifeguards are also responsible for monitoring access to the lake by being knowledgeable of and checking for appropriate Wintergreen Passes. When not on active duty, lifeguards must be available to assist guests with boat rentals, requiring the ability to handle all cash, credit card, and other forms of payment and transactions for rentals, as well as for food and other merchandise at Lake Monocan. Lake staff will maintain the cleanliness of all food service areas while ensuring the Lake properly stocked for the current and following business day.

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:

Lead by example for a safe work environment.

• Smile and greet guests in a friendly manner

• Report to work on time and prepared for all scheduled shifts.

• Must be in uniform at all times.

• Follow all opening, closing and daily operating procedures.

• Keep work area, restrooms, and park neat and clean.

• Maintain a cash drawer of $300 or more.

• Must follow policies and procedures outlined in the Wintergreen Handbook.

• Needs to be able to take on additional tasks and assignments assigned by the Lake Supervisor and Manager.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of:

• Basic record-keeping and report-writing including budgets,

Skill & Abilities in:

• Must be at least 16 years of age

• Superior customer service skills are required.

• Must have Lifeguard, CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications up to date.

• Ability to handle a cash drawer of more than $300, plus receipts, and correctly and efficiently process the daily deposit.

• Ability to answer all questions and take messages over the phone from guests and other resort personnel.

Education, Training and Experience Guidelines:

High school diploma OR GED.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

• Must be able to work outside in the sun for extended periods of time in a warm and sometimes humid climate.

• Must be able to work holidays, weekends and evenings.

• Must be able to lift a minimum of 50lbs in the water
