General Duties:The Recreation Coordinator for Outdoor Recreation is responsible for leading the charge to embrace the beauty and landscape of the Winona area through trail development and outdoor programming. The primary focus for the next five years will be to build a trail system in the bluffs, on back waterways of the Mississippi, and connect the bluff trails to the Mississippi via city streets.

The secondary goal of this position during trail construction is to create programming for citizens of Winona and to draw people to the region. This position will specifically oversee the ice climbing wall on a section of the bluff, trail development and maintenance, and oversight and programming of Lake Lodge recreation center. This position reports to the assistant recreation director will provide input for budget development.

Qualifications:Candidates must have strong communication skills, teamwork centered mentality, independent work ethic, four year degree with two years of related experience, and a valid driver's license. Previous supervisory experience is desired. First aid/CPR/concussion certification must be obtained within six months from date of hire.

This is a seasonal position, ending on or about December 31st, with a workweek expectation of a varied number of hours throughout the entire season, including daytime and some evenings and every Saturday, and this position is without benefits. The hours will be determined at the time of hire. Responsibilities * Maintain positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters and maintains positive relationships with co-workers and supervisors. This would include but not be limited to such actions: resolution of conflicts in a positive manner; courteous treatment of staff, clients and visitors; respect of others' property and person, professional and appropriate communication to and about co-workers, supervisors and subordinates. Support the Mission of The Salvation Army by treating every donor, contact and colleague with respect and dignity, and without discrimination of any kind.• Respond to all inquiries concerning bell ringing, answering questions and encouraging and assisting potential bellringers.• Recruit bellringers (volunteer and paid if needed).• Download the bellringer forms from the Lotus Notes Northern Division Forms Database.• Obtain a list of payroll employee file numbers to be used for the paid bellringers.• Establish and maintain the kettle site work schedules.• Resolve scheduling conflicts and arrange for back ups.• Print kettle schedules for current day for kettle drivers.• Drive Kettle Routes to deliver/pick up kettles.• Ensure all kettles have a bank deposit slip with location written on it prior to setting the kettle at the location.• Pick up kettles and make daily bank deposits at designated bank.• Schedule volunteers to help organize deposits by straightening and sorting bills.• Conduct bellringer orientation training.• Inform potential paid bellringers, that by completing the new hire paperwork, they are making a good faith commitment to work as needed. Also advise them that if they are currently receiving any kind of government agency assistance, that assistance may be delayed or stopped once their paperwork has been processed.Ensure all bellringers new hire paperwork is completed before they are allowed to work. Special note: No IDs - no work. No completed paperwork - no work.• Conduct bell ringer orientations and assist bell ringers in completing the required paperwork.• Ensure all the employee new hire paperwork is either delivered, faxed, emailed scan or mailed to DHQ/HR no later than the first day they begin working to ensure we have sufficient time to process them for payroll. If you fax or scan your documents, please ensure that all originals are either mailed or delivered to DHQ/HR as soon as possible following the hire.• Ensure a detailed time card is completed for all paid bellringers and the times recorded are accurate.• Ensure the time cards are kept secured and safe from tampering.• Ensure the time cards are turned in for each payroll on time or as directed.• Notify DHQ/HR if a bellringer is released and will no longer be working as soon as possible, so they can be terminated in the payroll system.• If a bellringer is released for cause – please ensure the Service Extension Field Representative is notified immediately.• Assist in the printing/preparing of bell ringing reports as needed.• Assist in reporting the bell ringing statistics as needed.• And all other duties as assigned Qualifications High School diploma or GED, with a minimum of three years' experience working with volunteers, recruiting and/or project management or other relevant type experience. Excellent administrative and computer skills – proficient in Excel and MS Word, able to effectively use mail-merge as well as create general correspondence and able to learn and adapt to other computer software programs easily. Excellent communication skills, and able to work independently with minimal supervision. Good interpersonal skills, and be trustworthy, especially in confidential matters. Ability and willingness to work some evenings and Saturdays.
