Recreation Coordinator
Position Profile
Status: Part-time/Temporary/Seasonal (PTS) position, non-exempt
Salary: Starts at $21/hr depending on qualifications plus cell phone allowance
Hours: Typical schedule is Monday-Thursday afternoons into early evenings, flexible; occasional Fridays or weekends as needed.
Seasonal position ends in late August. Position may be extended and hours adjusted upon business need and candidate interest.
Location: Eden Prairie City Center (8080 Mitchell Road, Eden Prairie, MN 55344) and off-site facilities and fields located in Eden Prairie.
Reporting Relationship: Reports to Recreation Supervisor
Recreation Division
The Recreation Services Division has the responsibility for managing all recreation facilities and providing a variety of affordable recreation programs and services for all age groups and people of all abilities. The staff in this division are responsible for the management of facilities such as the Art Center, Senior Center, and the Outdoor Center, as well as all other City park buildings and recreation facilities such as ball fields, outdoor ice rinks, sledding hill, and amphitheater.
Position Responsibilities
The Recreation Coordinator
Athletics assists the Recreation Supervisor
Athletics with the operations of adult athletic leagues, recreational youth sports programs and events as assigned. The primary position responsibilities and areas of impact are:
Supports day-to-day operations and communications of athletic programs for adult athletics, youth athletic associations and outdoor athletic facilities.
Supports athletics staff by coordinating staff schedules, providing work direction and assisting with delivery of staff orientation and training.
Performs program site visits and communicates with participants and staff to ensure high quality program delivery.
Facilitates outdoor athletic facility schedules and rentals. Processes invoices and ensures payment according to policies priority group status.
Ensures fair, equitable, inclusive, and safe practices for athletic programming, staffing, and outdoor athletic facility usage.
Independently or in consultation with Recreation Supervisor(s), makes and communicates weather-related cancelations, prioritizing public safety.
Supports special projects and events as assigned.

Position Requirements
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D) required.
A valid driver's license is required.
A minimum of two years of post-secondary related curriculum or bachelor's degree in Community Health, Physical Education, Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Sports Management, Athletics Administration, or related field is preferred.
Work Experience: Minimum of two years experience in recreation programming, sports management, or athletics such as but not limited to coaching, officiating, participating, administering, scheduling, and volunteering required.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) required. Experience with software applications used for registration, facility and/or league scheduling preferred.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift/pull/push/carry up to 20 lbs.
Working Conditions: Majority of work hours in an office setting or indoors. Remaining time spent outdoors with exposure to all weather conditions.
