This class assists the Manager (Supervisor II, IV/Manager II,III) in coordinating, planning, administrating, supervising and conducting recreational and cultural programs at a comprehensive community recreation center. Primary responsibilities include implementation of Active Senior and Adult Program (ASAP) and after school programs.

Essential Functions

  • Provides customer service to the public in person and via telephone. Answers incoming calls; greets recreation facility patrons and visitors.

  • Responds to routine inquiries regarding the City's recreation facilities, services, and programs.

  • Processes participant registrations for various types of recreation classes and senior program activities.

  • Receives and processes fees for recreation programs and services.

  • Signs up new recreation facility members; processes membership paperwork; delivers new member orientation; provides information regarding facility rules and regulations.

  • Instructs patrons in the use of fitness equipment and/or appropriate methods of exercise.

  • Sets up equipment required for games and sports practices; monitors gym activities. Assists in organizing and delivering recreation programming as assigned. Coordinate and implement programs daily for senior program participants

  • Provides assistance in coordinating recreation or other special events hosted by the City.

  • Conducts a variety of general office tasks; performs data entry and filing; prepares correspondence, flyers, and/or newsletters.

  • Assists in updating and maintaining departmental records, lists, calendars, and databases.

  • Participates in cleaning/maintaining recreation facilities and equipment for area of assignment; sweeps and mops floors; performs vacuuming and dusting; cleans windows; empties trash.

  • Assists in ensuring recreation facilities are safely and properly maintained for use by the public. Performs other related duties as assigned or required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • City policies, rules and regulations governing the conduct and safety of persons using municipal recreation facilities, programs and equipment.

  • Knowledge of human relations and supervision necessary to function as a first or second level supervisor.

  • Maintaining Financial and Personnel Records.

  • Effective verbal and written communication.

  • Safety rules and precautions/occupational hazards.

  • Ability to plan, assign, train, direct and evaluate administrative, technical/trade or professional employees.

  • Ability to maintain accurate personnel records.

  • Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with all levels of management, city officials, vendors, other government agencies, other employees and the general public

  • Principles, practices, philosophy and objectives of public recreation programs and services

  • Principles of effective program planning, development, administration and evaluation

  • Effective and appropriate public contact and telephone techniques.

  • Principles and practices of marketing, advertising, promotions and customer service

  • Modern office practices and procedures.

  • Personal computer operation and software applications.

  • Ability to interpret and explain department and program policies, rules and procedures.

  • Various sports and recreational activities.

  • Ability to organize and implement a diverse and creative recreation program.

  • Ability to work with a multi-cultural community, seniors and participants of all age groups.

  • Experience working with diverse populations and seniors

  • Must be able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.

  • Must be able to gather and analyze information for interpretation and resolution

  • Ability to make good sound professional judgment decisions and act accordingly

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

Work is done seasonally. Essential Functions</p><ul><li><p>Supervises Seasonal Staff in absence of Water Safety Supervisor daily</p></li><li><p>Assist as needed with weekly staff scheduling</p></li><li><p>Monitors and maintains water chemistry by conducting water chemical tests and documents all recordings daily ensuring compliance with health codes, adding chemicals or contacting help when needed</p></li><li><p>Completes required reports daily including accident and injury reports as well as daily inspections.</p></li><li><p>Conducts weekly Inservice training for Lifeguards, Waterpark Attendants, and other aquatics safety personnel</p></li><li><p>Enforces Pool Rules and Policies daily, serves as a lifeguard on duty when needed and observes lifeguards and swimmers in the water in a proactive manner</p></li><li><p>Assists with Pre-Season Lifeguard Training and operations</p></li><li><p>Performs any and all other work as needed or assigned.</p></li></ul><p>Minimum Qualifications</p><ul><li><p>Knowledge of Lifeguarding and first aid skills and conducting inservice training for aquatic safety personnel.</p></li><li><p>Knowledge of pool safety and City policies.</p></li><li><p>Knowledge of water park rules for operation.</p></li><li><p>Knowledge of swimming pool maintenance and chemistry.</p></li><li><p>Ability to lead and train lifeguarding and safety personnel.</p></li><li><p>Ability to identify distressed persons.</p></li><li><p>Ability to handle emergency situations quickly and effectively,</p></li><li><p>Ability to swim, run, walk, stand, and perform a wide range of physical abilities.</p></li><li><p>Ability to provide customer service and ensure patron safety for a large number of patrons at a large aquatics' facility.</p></li><li><p>Communicating effectively verbally and in writing.</p></li><li><p>Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.</p></li><li><p>Experience 1 year of experience as a lifeguard working with a large number of safety personnel in an aquatic facility.</p></li></ul><p>Supplemental Information</p><p>The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by personnel assigned to this classification and is not necessarily an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties and skill required.</p><p>The salary listed on this job posting is the starting salary range; amount offered will depend upon qualifications.</p><br> City Of Dallas, TX Dallas TX
