Duties: Provide children and youth ages 8 to 18 with a positive and sage recreational experience. Engage youth in recreational games and activities, including but not limited to board and table games, sports, outdoor and indoor recreation, field trips and arts and crafts. Supervise children who attend the center; monitor peer behavior and mediate when necessary. Interact positively with youth, their parents, and the public. Be knowledgeable of the purpose, mission, and goals of the Parks and Recreation Department in addition to the scope and scale of programs offered at their assigned park and across the city. Follow procedures for opening and closing the community center. Maintain the appearance of the park. Clean community center, including game/activity room(s), restroom, and office area. Must be able to work Monday through Saturday with one week day off, holiday, evenings and other time as assigned. Maintain and submit weekly attendance reports. Develop recreational program plans. Present plans and budget to committee. Plan recreational activities for the upcoming week. Submit recreational supply requests with justification for why the supplies are needed. Maintain inventory of recreational supplies and equipment. Assist the PARD Department at special events; including but not limited to: Monster Mash, 4th Fest, Easter Egg Hunt, Be lead on smaller City of Pasadena events including but not limited to Movie in the Parks and Pop Up Parks. Assist the public with inquiries about programming. Ensure facility is prepared for rentals on the weekends. Helps with Program Registration. Works the assigned schedule and complies with the City's timekeeping and attendance policy. Must be able to obtain and maintain, without interruption, all necessary licenses, certifications, clearances, and/or job requirements.

Qualifications: High School diploma or have obtained a GED equivalence Valid Texas Driver's License with a good driving record. Must be able to drive city vehicles within three months of hire. Food Manager Certification within 6 months of hire. CPR/ First Aid within one year of hire.

  • Civilian employees accumulate vacation at the following rates:
  • Less than 6 years of service - two weeks of vacation per year.
  • From 6 to less than 11 years of service - three weeks of vacation per year.
  • From 11 to less than 21 years of service four weeks of vacation per year.
  • From 21 to less than 26 years of service five weeks of vacation per year.
  • From 26 years of service and up six weeks of vacation per year.
