Recreation Assistant II
About the Job: Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services department seeks two Recreation Assistant II employees to coordinate youth, teen, adult and family programs and support daily operations of Community Center facilities. One position area of concentration will be special events, marketing and adult and family programming. The other position area of concentration will be youth out-of-school time programming, social emotional learning (SEL) and oversight of the center's health and wellness program.
Job Type: Full-time
Work Schedule: Monday- Friday 9:00 am- 5:30 p.m. with occasional evenings and weekends
Work Location: Meadows Park Community Center
This posting will be filling two positions.
As a Recreation Assistant II, you will:
- Plan, implement, and evaluate a variety of recreational, educational and instructional programs, trips, events and services in areas that include arts and culture, health and wellness, social engagement, community integration, leisure education, and fitness; Evaluate program participant's strengths and challenges to engage them in appropriate experiences based on such factors as ability level and developmental appropriateness
- Function in the role of lead program staff and oversee year-round programs and services for all center participants, with an emphasis on special events, adult and family programs, youth out-of-school programs, including after school and holiday and school breaks and marketing efforts
- Collaborate with programming staff from other facilities and workgroups
- Support compliance with the Department's Child Care Licensing requirements as needed, including maintaining proper staff files, completing required trainings, and adhering to program supervision and operational requirements
- Supervise volunteers and seasonal staff; Oversee the registration process for assigned programs and maintain detailed participant information
- Maintain detailed inventory of equipment and supplies; assist in the identifying and acquisition of purchases and other resources as needed
- Assist with daily operations of community center, including marketing, program registration, facility monitoring and maintenance, special events, and customer service

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of age-appropriate programming, developmental and physical disabilities, community health, safety and risk management
- Knowledge of developmental stages for youth, teens, and adults
- Knowledge of appropriate behavior management techniques
- Ability to work independently and utilize good judgement in a variety of settings
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse populations
Minimum Qualifications
- A high school diploma or GED
- Three years of full-time, professional experience a recreation program or related area
- Possess and maintain a valid, non-probationary Colorado driver's license not subject to restriction related to alcohol and/or drug violations or pending charges
- Possess or obtain within three months of hire, CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation), First Aid, and ServSafe certifications
One year of relevant work experience may be substituted for one year of required education (OR) one year of relevant academic coursework beyond the minimum requirement may be substituted for one year of required professional experience
Preferred Qualifications

- Possess an associate's degree or greater with major coursework in recreation, physical activity, child development, public health or counseling, or human services
- Possess a Certified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP) certification and/or medication delegation certification
- Bilingual in Spanish and English

- Capability of exerting up to 10 lbs occasionally, negligible weights frequently and ability to work outdoors in extreme weather
