Position Description
This position ensures the city's compliance with the Public Information Act (PIA), pursuant to Chapter 552, Government Code to fulfill open record requests from the public in accordance with local, state, and federal law and best professional standards and practices for a municipal government. This is a technical and deadline driven process that requires an individual to review and process requests, determine if an opinion from the Office of the Attorney General is required and the preparation of complex briefs to the Office of the Attorney General requesting an exception of confidential information pursuant to state law.
The position requires the individual to provide effective, professional and sensitive interactions with requestors. This position assists with the records management program requirements to ensure compliance with maintenance, retention and destruction of records in accordance with state law, city code and city policy. This position provides administrative and technical support to the city secretary and assistant city secretary to include, but not limited to processing accounts payable/receivable, budget preparation, gathering and analyzing statistical data, designing, preparing and disseminating reports, purchasing card reconciliation, processing Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission application packets for certification, and preparing correspondence for elected officials and the City Secretary's Office.

What We're Looking For
Requirements - Bachelor's Degree in Business, Public Administration or Records Management. Over two years of experience in records management and processing public information requests.
Additional experience will be considered in lieu of education. Texas Registered Municipal Clerks (TRMC) certification or enrollment in the TRMC certification program preferred. Licensed Notary Public.
Valid TX Driver License. Knowledge of Public Information Act. Excellent reasoning, judgment, written and oral communication skills. Knowledge of research and report development.

Typical Work Schedule: Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
