Job Description:

This position is responsible for performing tasks that support complete, accurate and timely health information for use by patients, healthcare providers, and management and government/regulatory agencies.

Scope

As a Record Center Specialist you need to know how to:

Be responsible for controlling and coordinating all record/box requests received at the Denver Record Center.

Perform retrieval, sorting, scanning, and delivery of all types of requested records, to include verification of not in file, random file audits, destruction of records/boxes, and clerical support.

Additional responsibilities may include statistics and other functions related to the daily operations of the Record Center.

Maintain the highest level of customer service; answer telephone inquiries relating to record requests, ensure all record requests are retrieved and prepared for scanning or delivery in a timely manner to include bar code scanning of records into and out of the Record Center. Requests can be for Outpatient, Inpatient, Clinic, Radiology or business box/record retrieval, as well as microfilmed/microfiche records.

Sort records and stage records for refiling, ensuring all sorting is up to date.

Be responsible to retrieve STAT records, films and/or visits from the file system and properly track these records in the chart/film-tracking system.

Follow up using established procedures to verify all records/visits not found in file.

Complete daily work productivity forms for statistics.

Perform ongoing audits of a percentage of the file system will be conducted daily to ensure terminal digit integrity.

Participate in record center projects (i.e. record sorts, re-labeling of records, etc.) in cooperation with the Record Center Supervisor.

Participate in projects during care site medical record or Radiology purging of records.

Pack boxes of records; lift boxes of records (35 50 lbs) to shelving or remove records from boxes to place on shelving.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent, required- Knowledge of office procedures such as filing and telephone skills required- Computer skills, typing skills, required- English communication (reading/writing) and mathematical skills, required- Data entry, required- Knowledge of medical record numbering systems, required

Physical Requirements:

Hearing/listening, lifting, manual dexterity, pulling/pushing, seeing, sitting, speaking, squatting/kneeling, standing, and walking.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

$18.29 - $22.57
