A well-established company is seeking an industrial equipment material buyer to scout and pick-up used control valves & instrumentation from industrial plants & scrap yards nationwide. Locations will include refineries, chemical plants & paper mills. Visiting scrap yards along this route to find material will also be required.
Primary job responsibilities will include:
Travel North America to acquire surplus equipment from industrial plants
Introduce company's recycling program to prospective and existing customers for issuance of recycling credit toward future purchases.
Promote the value of company re-manufactured products and repair services to plant workers through the use of credits issued for material received.
Estimating equipment value and documenting materials picked up in plants
Work independently yet function well with team members to reach shared departmental goals
75% travel out of state, working a national route with return to St. Louis, Missouri
Good negotiation skills
Strong visual memory (identification of materials by sight)
Extremely perceptive & able to analyze situations
Able to "think on one's feet"
Can lift 75 lbs during loading and unloading of truck
Skills & Education:
Minimum of three years in an outside position of sales or similar activity visiting industrial plants
Minimum high school degree or equivalent
Clean driving record required
Excellent written & verbal communication skills
Outstanding interpersonal relationship abilities
