The receptionist/Scheduler serves patients by greeting and helping them, and is responsible for basic clerical tasks such as answering the phones, triaging calls, scheduling appointments in a professional and timely manner. Works with the department teams to assure quality care to our patients.
Welcomes and greets all patients and visitors, in person or over the phones
Answers the phones while maintaining a polite, consistent phone manner using proper telephone etiquette
Responsible for keeping the reception area clean and organized
Registers new patients and updates existing patient demographics by collecting patient detailed patient information including personal and financial information, and following all guidelines for meaningful use.
Facilitates patient flow by notifying staff of patients arrivals, being aware of delays, and communicating with patients and clinical staff
Ensures availability of treatment information by filing and retrieving patient records utilizing OEHR
Responds to patients, prospective patients, and visitor inquiries in a courteous manner
Keeps medical office supplies adequately stocked by anticipating inventory needs, placing orders, and monitoring office equipment
Protects patient confidentiality of personal and financial information by not leaving PHI in plain sight and logging off the computer before leaving it unattended
Maintains operations by following policies and procedures, reporting needed changes
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
Other responsibilities as needed
High School diploma or GED equivalent required
Minimum 2 years related experience in a healthcare environment preferred
