Responsibilities

The receptionist/Scheduler serves patients by greeting and helping them, and is responsible for basic clerical tasks such as answering the phones, triaging calls, scheduling appointments in a professional and timely manner. Works with the department teams to assure quality care to our patients.

  • Welcomes and greets all patients and visitors, in person or over the phones

  • Answers the phones while maintaining a polite, consistent phone manner using proper telephone etiquette

  • Responsible for keeping the reception area clean and organized

  • Registers new patients and updates existing patient demographics by collecting patient detailed patient information including personal and financial information, and following all guidelines for meaningful use.

  • Facilitates patient flow by notifying staff of patients arrivals, being aware of delays, and communicating with patients and clinical staff

  • Ensures availability of treatment information by filing and retrieving patient records utilizing OEHR

  • Responds to patients, prospective patients, and visitor inquiries in a courteous manner

  • Keeps medical office supplies adequately stocked by anticipating inventory needs, placing orders, and monitoring office equipment

  • Protects patient confidentiality of personal and financial information by not leaving PHI in plain sight and logging off the computer before leaving it unattended

  • Maintains operations by following policies and procedures, reporting needed changes

  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed

  • Other responsibilities as needed

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent required

  • Minimum 2 years related experience in a healthcare environment preferred
