POSITION SUMMARY:

The purpose of this position is to serve as a forward-facing employee whom the students first see upon entering Health Services. This position has the primary role of greeting students and answering student phone calls in order for them to be evaluated at Health Services by a healthcare provider.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Answers incoming phone calls and create a record of each call in Practice Management.

Assesses seriousness of situation as able and escalate emergencies to Triage Nurse.

Monitors doorbell/intercom.

Speaks to incoming students/customers/staff. Allow access and/or direct them appropriately.

Ensures there is an adequate supply of masks, hand sanitizer, and clean pens at check-in kiosks.

Assists with patient check-in/provide mask if needed.

Schedules visits per protocol for Vaccinations/TB testing.

Retrieves, opens and organizes Incoming mail/packages daily.

Processes payments at window for visits and OTC medications.

Ensures that charges in Clover and Medicat balance and are processed correctly.

Ensure that patient understands process if they have a UPMC prescription to pick up later in the day

Ensure that all front office paperwork is printed and filed per procedures

Receive student prescription deliveries from UPMC. Check-in and file per established procedure

Distribute prescriptions to students

Obtain patient's signature on the appropriate document.

Update the logbook with the date, time and your initials.

Enters the transaction in Medicat (EMR).

Receives Health Services stocked medication deliveries.

Unpacks contents and refrigerate if needed.

Scans record to patient's chart.

Scans DUPS reports into EMR after reviewed by Director.

Scans Immunization waivers into EMR after approved by Director.

Checks copier throughout the day for incoming faxes and distribute/scan to electronic medical record (EMR).

Fax's records and forms as needed.

Scans paper records into EMR.

Checks department/ copier's paper supply and restock if needed.

Checks supply of department's paper forms and restock as needed.

Delivers deposit envelopes to Cashier's Office.

Health Insurance Verification for each visit

Scanning copy of Insurance Card into Electronic Medical Record (EMR)

Updating Health Insurance information in EMR

Completes other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum qualifications:

High School Diploma or Associate's Degree and 1-5 years of experience.

Preferred qualifications:

Customer service training/experience.

Alternately, the successful candidate may possess any equivalent combination of experience and training, which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the essential job functions. This includes, but is not limited to, the following:
