About the Job
Arranges for efficient and orderly checking in and out of patients, registering patients in the computer ensuring that accurate information is collected and patients are made aware of office policies. Schedules appointments, collects payments, enters charges, issues receipts.
Provide and obtains referrals and maintains smooth operations of all front desk activities at all times. The receptionist responds to patient questions, coordinates services to be rendered to patients, maintains physician schedules, answers telephones and returns messages in a timely fashion.
Formal training which will be indicated by an Associates Degree in Business, high school diploma or equivalent years of experience in a professional setting; previous experience in a medical office; performing medical scheduling, and with medical software; working experience with medical terminology; appropriate English usage; excellent phone skills and dealing with customers in person; even temperament; ability to handle stressful situations. Physical guidelines include ability to: walk and sit for extended periods of time; carry up to 10 pounds; push, kneel, crouch, reach, use computer; speak clearly, hear normal range of sounds; identify colors; see within normal corrected limits; drive (or get transportation). Working conditions include: standard office equipment.
