Texas Security General Agency (TSGA) is a wholesale subsidiary of Brown & Brown, and are currently seeking a receptionist to join the team. The Receptionist is responsible for providing secretarial, clerical and administrative support in order to ensure that that customer service is delivered in an effective and efficient manner each and every day. The Receptionist reports to the Operations Manager and is regarded as the "Director of First Impressions" for the company.

Essential Duties and Functions: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Provide office support services in order to ensure efficiency and effectiveness within the office on a daily basis.

  • Receive, direct and triage telephone and fax messages in a timely and efficient manner to the appropriate team members.

  • Take receipt of mail and packages on a daily basis and process in a timely and efficient manner according to the guidelines provided to include a date stamp on all correspondence.

  • Assist in the planning and preparation of meetings, conference and conference telephone calls.

  • Make preparations for visitors and special events.

  • Maintain an adequate inventory on all office and kitchen supplies and monitor the use of supplies and equipment related to this area.

  • Coordinate the repair and maintenance of office equipment as instructed.

  • Maintains a safe and clean reception area by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.

  • Contributes to overall team effort by ensuring open and constant communication.


Required Skills


  • HS diploma or equivalent

  • Proficient with basic computer skills/software

  • Exceptional telephone demeanor

  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality

  • 1 3 years experience in a similar position

  • Ability to multi-task


  • Previous experience in insurance industry

The HSCS is a hub of excellence for forensic mental health and complex psychiatric care, with all facilities accredited by The Joint Commission. The hospitals provide state-of-the-art treatment that is recovery-oriented and science-based. Whether in a direct-care or support role, your contribution will make a difference in the life of a Texan. Receptionist works under the supervision of the communications supervisor. Receptionist provides continuous communications for the San Antonio State Hospital on a PBX console panel and performs receptionist duties for the agency. Work involves answering, placing, and transferring calls, placing conference calls, using and monitoring two way radios, receiving visitors, and providing general information. This position supports a 24/7/365 departmental operation and requires significant schedule flexibility including occasional overtime, coverage for vacations, holidays, and unanticipated absences. The successful candidate for this position will occasionally work other shifts as necessary to support the department's mission. Essential Job Functions: Attends work on a regular basis and may be required to work a specific shift schedule or, at times, even a rotating schedule, extended shift and/or overtime in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned. 1. Answers incoming calls to the CenturyLink/Cisco console and assists in placing long distance calls, conference calls, etc. 2. Operates Verizon Radio and Paging system. Monitors emergency generators and fire alarms panels for SASH. 3. Maintains and issues master keys for SASH staff as needed. Other duties as assigned include but are not limited to actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agency's obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation. Such participation may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location. Knowledge Skills Abilities: 1. Skill in the use of a telephone switchboard. 2. Skill in the use of computers and computer software. 3. Ability to transfer incoming calls to appropriate personnel and to greet and direct visitors. 4. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with all levels of the organization including patients, vendors and visitors. 5. Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Registration or Licensure Requirements: None. Initial Selection Criteria: 1. High school graduate or GED. 2. Preferred experience as a PBX Operator or experience in a switchboard and/or call center environment.
