Receiving Team Lead

The Receiving Team Lead works directly with the Receiving Manager to lead the Receiving team during their scheduled shifts. This includes, but is not limited to: directing the work of Receivers and Receiver/Store Assistant, organizing the dock, ensuring quality control of the entire receiving process, including correct processing of all special orders, all invoices are balanced and distributed, and that all other daily receiving procedures are followed and completed. The Receiving Team Lead serves City Market in a leadership position in the absence of the Receiving Manager.
Reporting to the Receiving Manager, the Receiving Team Lead is responsible for providing the highest level of service possible to our customers, vendors, co-workers and community. This position is also required to maintain the highest standards of professionalism and contribute towards a positive work environment that requires the highest standard of personal conduct.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Assigns tasks to Receivers and Receiver/Store Assistant.
Assists in coordinating and monitoring the data being input or altered in the POS system.
Directs the smooth flow of product onto and off of the receiving dock.
Enforces and oversees the correct application of Receiving Policies and Procedures.
Responsible for the smooth operation of the Receiving department in the absence of the Receiving Manager.
Assists with on-the-job training including, but not limited to, initial training of new Receiving employees.
Monitors Receiving accuracy and communicates issues to the Receiving Manager.
Communicates all pertinent information to the Receiving Manager or in their absence, Buyer, Department Manager, Director of Operations or Store Manager.
Processes all invoices daily and route invoices to appropriate department.
Helps with unloading as needed.
Checks deliveries to verify piece count, endure that vendor alters invoice accordingly, or that credit is requested.
Checks products for damage and/or unacceptable quality.
Identify mathematical or pricing discrepancies on invoices and ensure the vendor makes the appropriate corrections.
Updates, corrects, or creates cost record in the POS system.
Requests and processes credits with vendors and distributors.
Reports price discrepancies to Receiving Manager.
Helps coordinate department effectively. Communicates departmental needs with Receiving Manager on a regular basis. This may include staffing levels, production levels, supply needs and personnel issues. Acts as a liaison with staff to department heads. Communicates personnel or operational situations to the Receiving Manager in a timely manner. Schedules and monitors break schedule.
Fosters and maintain friendly, respectful, and professional vendor relations.
Directs any vendor issues or concerns to the Receiving Manager and/or to the appropriate Buyer or Department Manager.
Provides courteous, respectful customer service whenever needed.
Promotes outstanding internal customer service to ensure approachability and smooth working relations with all departments.
Maintains all work areas in a clean and orderly condition. Report all equipment repair and area maintenance needs to the Receiving Manager.
Adheres to policies as outlined in the City Markets Employee Guide and Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Is proactive with regard to creative self-learning and professional development. Attend all required meetings, trainings, seminars and workshops.
Follows all department policies and procedures in order for City Market to adhere to all State, Federal and OSHA regulations.

Must have general grocery store, retail, manufacturing, receiving or related experience.
One year applicable experience in a related field such as receiving, freight delivery or inventory control, required.
Knowledge of natural and conventional foods and the food industry preferred.
Solid understanding of Microsoft Office Suite with an emphasis on Microsoft Excel.
Solid understanding of Point of Sale software and scanning devices.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
Ability to operate simple hand tools, and to operate/understand mechanical functions and equipment.
Working knowledge of industry-standard equipment preferred.
