Position Overview

Reporting to the Receiving and Reverse Logistics Manager, the Receiving Lead is responsible for providing strategic operational leadership with outstanding service for a high-volume receiving environment. They will manage the inbound process for all inventory coming into the Distribution Center and coordinate with their leadership team involved with inbound inventory.

Key Accountabilities

Leadership:

  • Schedules and allocates personnel based on daily needs

  • Manages all aspects of employee performance, including establishment of objectives, performance reviews, professional development, and progressive disciplinary process as needed

  • Measure and set productivity goals, hold teams accountable for achieving goals

  • Conducts touchbases with direct reports and facilitates opportunities for skill-improvement and development

  • Flexes team members within various internal departments to allocate labor to high priority initiatives

  • Maintains the correct personnel structure and staffing level to accomplish most efficiently receiving and returns goals; responsible for hiring, developing, evaluating, and coaching team members

  • Participates in departmental goal-setting initiatives and creates strategic plans to execute

  • Enforces safety practices and exhibits safe behaviors

  • Enforces company and departmental policies and verifies consistent application

Process Management:

  • Leads the Receiving team including associates, specialists, and floor assistants

  • Communicates daily expectations to the Floor Assistants and follows up to ensure completion of daily and weekly goals

  • Oversees Floor Assistants and associates to ensure completion of receipt and putaway of all inventories into the Distribution Center and that materials are staged for accurate counting and quality control inspection

  • Ensures inventory accurately reflects physical receipts for inbound product and resolves discrepancies with necessary departments

  • Works closely with Planning and Allocation department through planning tools to determine priorities and develop/execute schedules accordingly

  • Communicates with Transportation & Trade team and carriers regarding the schedule of inbound freight deliveries

  • Ensures department leadership and team members are upholding requirements and standards associated with CTPAT certification, enacting new processes as needed

  • Partners with Quality Control and Production team on new product launches to validate quality and/or support inspection protocols

  • Strategizes with DC Operational Departments, including Inventory Control and Outbound Fulfillment, to create priorities based on building objectives

Knowledge Skills, and Abilities:

  • Collaborate and influence multiple internal and external stakeholders

  • Coach employees with a tactful and motivating approach

  • Recommend process improvements on existing process(es) and provide potential solutions

  • Work in a team environment to accomplish a shared goal; encourages teamwork among associates

  • Performance analysis and problem-solving capabilities

  • Advanced Excel skills

  • Proficiency in relevant computer systems (QAD/ERP, WMS systems)

  • Knowledge of CTPAT certification requirements

  • Organizational and time-management skills with the ability to multi-task effectively

  • Strong communication skills with a problem-solving attitude

  • Execute tasks with consistent delivery and reprioritize based on evolving business needs

  • Build cross functional partnerships and work collaboratively

Our Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

  • 3-5 years' experience with proven ability to execute with consistent delivery and reprioritize based on evolving business needs

  • Intermediate Excel skills and ability to quickly learn computer systems

  • A confident, self-starting attitude with excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to lift to 50 lbs. and stand and/or walk for duration of shift

  • Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus

  • A strong ability to build cross functional partnerships and work collaboratively

  • A growth mindset: desire to learn, grow and embrace innovative ideas
