Receiving Clerk

This position requires examining shipment contents and comparing records such as manifests, invoices, or orders to verify accuracy. Requisition raw materials and other supplies to assist with maintaining inventory. Maintain records of Bill of lading, receipts, and/or PRO (progressive rotation order) numbers to reference from Inbound freight deliveries for Woodgrain Millwork. Employees are held to a standard to adhere to all safety practices and comply with all company policies including Department Employee expectations.

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to:

  • Stand, walk, use hands and fingers to manage and grip, feel, and reach with hands and arms, stoop, and bend, 100% of their work schedule.

  • The employee is frequently required to communicate verbally and hear clearly.

  • The employee must be able to lift up to 70 pounds frequently during their daily work schedule.

Essential functions of the job:

  • Operates forklift in a safe and efficient manner according to company guidelines.

  • Inspects and records maintenance on Forklift at the beginning and end of shift.

  • Uses forklift to move material from the trailer to a warehouse staging location. (preferred)

  • Utilizes proper loading/unloading techniques to ensure the material is safe, stable, and secure on the trailer and forklift.

  • Checks trailer for accurate shipment and bill of lading.

  • Oversees the organization and inventory of the being received in

  • Complies with company standard operating procedures, safety policies, and OSHA standards.

Other Functions:

  • Receive shipments, check for damages, and sort stock.

  • Print labels (Handling Unit tickets) as well as handling all aspects of receiving functionality to determine appropriate storage allocation of incoming goods.

  • Ensure labels and tickets are labeled correctly with the precise quantity.

  • Collaborate and communicate efficiently with Warehouse clerk, receiving team, procurement, and Inventory Department involved with the receipt of materials.

  • Track and monitor updates of incoming shipments.

  • Maintains accuracy of receipt scans from receivable items

  • Receiving and signing for deliveries

  • Knowledgeable in basic Excel, Outlook, Teams, and other MS Office tools.

  • Forklift experience (preferred).

  • Will assist with cycle counts of materials received within the shift (or the day of receipt).

Education and/or Experience

  • High School/GED and min 90 days to 1-year related experience and/or on-the-job training.

  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Must be able to work well with others in a close environment.

  • Ability to think quickly and resolve issues.

  • Basic Arithmetic and recording (not required) skills.

  • Moving mechanical parts, machines, and vehicles.

  • The manufacturing environment noise level is generally loud and must wear proper PPE.

  • Employees are regularly exposed to fumes, airborne particles, and extreme hot and cold temperatures.
