Job Summary

Join UT Southwestern as Distribution and Receiving Manager in the Materials Management department. The Distribution and Receiving Manager works under minimal supervision of the Director of Materials Management to manage personnel, receiving and delivery functions for merchandise arriving at the institution.

Strong customer service skills are essential. This position will office on the North campus at the NG dock.

Required Experience and Education

Bachelor's degree in related field and four (4) experience in Receiving and Distribution, preferably in a health care setting, and one (1) year experience in personnel management. Working knowledge of PeopleSoft and SC Logic or like systems is preferred.

Job Duties

• Primary focus of the job is to manage the receiving and delivery of merchandise that has been purchased by the University.

• Manages the activities and performance all of all personnel to ensure accurate receipt and timely delivery of all orders to customers.

• Performs mid-year and annual evaluations of all direct reporting staff.

• Conducts manpower workload analysis and make appropriate changes to improve efficiency and accuracy.

• Develops, implements, and monitors policies, procedures and changes for effective and efficient operations, internal controls, and institutional compliance.

• Communicates directly with campus departments to resolve receiving and delivery issues.

• Ensures all receipts and deliveries are captured in the ERP system and/or hand held devices.

• Assist in the creation and implementation of processes, which enhances the department's ability to provide better service to our customers.

• Facilitates regular and spontaneous meetings with immediate staff to resolve staffing, equipment, efficiency, and purchasing concerns.

• Disseminates necessary health and safety, institutional, and departmental information to all department employees through verbal or written communications, group meetings, and demonstrations.

• Stay abreast of current shipping & receiving regulations for hazardous materials

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Work is performed primarily in a warehouse environment with occasional work performance in cold warehouse with constant noise. Work requires ability to move 50 pounds by bending, reaching, carrying, and lifting. Data entry and typing skills are needed for reports and correspondence along with filing skills. Driving is needed for delivering priorities to campus, and vision is needed for inspection of docks or delivery locations. Running and walking is also performed as job is completed.
