We are looking for a Real Time Trading Manager who will oversee and coordinate a team of real time traders. This highly visible position coordinates the schedules for team, sets P&L goals, meets with management to discuss strategies. The responsibility of the Mgr. Real-Time Trading & Operations is to develop and maintain an organization that is able effectively manage the 24x7 operations of the Generation Portfolio. In addition, they are responsible for making sure all Oxy assets are compliant with all market rules and regulations, and that asset operators immediately take all necessary actions to remain compliant with rules and regulations. This position will be in Houston, Texas.

Job Responsibilities

• Assume responsibility & accountability for all actions of collective shift, including but not limited to team training/certifications.

• Schedule, periodic reviews(daily/Monthly/annual), developmental conversations, Onboarding/offboarding of shift.

• Proactively motivate team to build process redundancy across portfolio. Ensure robust understanding of documented processes across all portfolios with ability to implement shared responsibilities when necessary.

• Manage & Develop communication & implementation of process changes in coordination with the training department. Develop and communicate daily/monthly metrics to be shared with Sr Management/Wholesale Trading team.

• Reports to include metrics around shared success as well as challenge areas to drive improvement. Constantly monitor the status of all IT systems and models used to submit asset parameters to the markets (Gen Models for Taft, Ingleside, and Battleground) , identify system issues such as loss of telemetry or visibility to markets, and direct OxyIT or Oxy plant personnel to rectify the issues in a timely manner, while keeping the grid operators abreast of the problems.

• Maintain thorough understanding of ISO tariffs, manuals, Fuel Cost Policies and procedures governing real-time operations.

• Support ISO driven system and or procedure changes.

• Develop and implement strategies for transacting within new marketplace structures and regulations.

• Initiate process improvement recommendations and contribute to improving procedures, tools, training materials on the desk.

• Maintain situational awareness of market conditions and monitor Oxy's electrical asset status, parameters, ancillary services, telemetry, and outages to ensure compliance with market rules while attaining maximum profitability.

• Communicate effectively with asset operators, asset managers, and real time coworkers regarding market events and analysis to foster consistent flow of information and archive good decision making. In addition, communicate timely and concisely with ISOs current asset conditions and real time operations information which deviates from the normal course of operation in order to always remain compliant with rules and regulations.

• Manage multiple P/L spreadsheets to capture gains/losses.

• Training and learning will be fast paced and will be on a timeline.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business administration, Finance, Accounting, Engineering, or related field

• A minimum of five years of experience in Real Time or Day Ahead Electricity trading or operations is preferred.

• Management experience is preferred with strong organizational and interpersonal skills.

• The ability to quickly develop a strong understanding of the power scheduling and optimization process flow between front-office, mid-office and back-office functions is required.

• Demonstrate the ability to respond to emergencies & manage stressful situations.

Preferences

• Advanced knowledge of market products in ERCOT, MISO, or other ISO in the United States is required.

• Advanced knowledge of NERC requirements, Market Protocols, BPMs, and Tariffs is also required.
