osition Overview:
The Housing Voucher Application Processor is responsible for the efficient and accurate processing of housing assistance applications, ensuring that eligible individuals and families receive the support they need. This role typically involves working with public housing authorities, government agencies, and nonprofit organizations.

Responsibilities:

  • Receive and review housing voucher applications for completeness and accuracy.
  • Verify applicant information, including income, employment, and residency status.
  • Enter application data into the housing authority's database.
  • Assess applicants' eligibility for housing vouchers based on established guidelines and criteria.
  • Conduct background checks and verify documents such as pay stubs, tax returns, and identification.
  • Communicate with applicants to request additional information or documentation as needed.
  • Provide applicants with updates on the status of their applications.
  • Ensure that all applications are processed in compliance with federal, state, and local housing regulations.
  • Maintain accurate and organized records of all applications and related documentation.
  • Assist applicants with questions and concerns regarding the housing voucher application process.
  • Provide information on available housing programs and resources.
  • Work closely with other housing authority staff, social workers, and community organizations to facilitate the application process.
  • Participate in team meetings and training sessions.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in social services, customer service, or administrative roles is often preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in using office software and databases.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Typically works in an office environment, with regular hours.
  • May require occasional travel to meet with applicants or attend community events.

Schedule and Compensation:

  • Monday to Friday 9am-5pm in Brooklyn, NY office.
  • Base Salary: $46,000 - $55,000
